Please retweet, why are councils still issuing new licences to breed when councils are killing healthy dogs because rescue shelters are full? We already have more dogs and cats than homes in the UK. No one seems interested in taking responsibility for over breeding and the huge rise in cruelty and abandonment in this country #UK 2026. We can't just keep donating and building more shelters, we need to halt breeding and ban pet selling sites‼️ It should no longer be everyone's right to own a pet, there is just too much cruelty. Please retweet, could you adopt or foster #YORKSHIRE #UK? A small registered charity is OVERWHELMED 💔 We are currently receiving many more requests to take in dogs than we are adoption/foster enquiries 😔 We have had to turn countless dogs away just in the past week alone - something we absolutely hate to do, and goes against why we are here as a charity, but we simply have no space and our current dogs are all still sat waiting for someone to give them a chance 💔 To make matters worse, the vast vast majority of those enquiries we have received are failing to get back to us after initial contact - this is unprecedented and only a very recent issue that we just cannot understand 😣 PLEASE DO NOT apply to adopt/foster if you are not genuine or serious! It’s soul destroying to receive what sound like promising enquires, only to be ghosted 😓 We are truly doing all we can, but right now it feels like there just aren’t the homes out there and it’s tough - tough on us, but really tough on so many dogs who should be with their forever families 😓 Summer - August in particular - is probably the worst time for rehoming as so many people are away, but this is a plea to those people out there who maybe have already been away, or who have no holiday plans, to please consider fostering or adopting - we’re crying out for help, but please ONLY get in touch if you feel that you genuinely can help ❤️ We have had to seriously limit our intakes and haven’t had any new arrivals 💔 we’re desperate to help more dogs in need, but everything depends on finding homes/foster placements for our current dogs who need us ❤️ There is physically only so much we can do, and we just have no room or foster homes out there to be able to help any more 💔 Please stick with us - we will somehow get through this (even though right at this moment that feels like a pretty impossible task 😓) ❤️❤️❤️❤️ - Helping Yorkshire Poundies Dog Rescue.
