There is one qualified pitch from a starter that has a Whiff% over 50%, and it's Chase Burns' slider. He threw it exactly 1,000 times, and the data says enough: - .154 BA - .245 SLG - 51.9% Whiff% - 47.6% K% The next closest is Jesus Luzardo's sweeper (47.6%; Whiff%)

Still don't get why one leg always ruins my parlays. Hit three of four last night and the one I felt best about fell apart late. Do you guys keep them small or go big?

It was a good move to the guardians. They were at that point playing a catcher everyday with just as bad if not worse stats. Trading for Patrick Bailey didn’t make them worse. It made them better. You so badly want to be right but you’re wrong

Thinking about earlier in the season when the guardians traded for Patrick Bailey and San Francisco fans got in my comment section to tell me how horrific of a hitter he was and how we’d regret it. No regrets here #GuardsBall #StandGuard

Every week the power rankings shuffle and I still can't tell who's actually good. How do you guys judge it?

Shohei Ohtani has 0 home runs and just 1 RBI since August 19th 🤯 That's 24 consecutive games without a home run, tied for the longest streak in his career in games with at least 1 plate appearance.

The weird part about this is it looks like a no-doubt homer, but 105 MPH batted balls at 49 degrees did not leave the yard all 27 times they were hit this season. Gut says this one was the outlier and leaves the yard and stays fair. Regardless, just brutal luck.
Ty France just hit one off the ROOF and Jackson Chourio makes the play for the out! A bizarre play here in the 9th 🤯

Still figuring out how power rankings work. Do they matter for betting at all, or is it just vibes week to week?

As fans we want to see Judge, Cole, and Stanton win a ring before they retire. Hell, that ship has probably sailed for Stanton. But I think beyond that, there's plenty of light in the tunnel for the future. I've tweeted this out a few times but in a season muddied by disappointment, the best take away from the year is the improvement in the hitting development down in the farm. For years before this decade, the Yankees struggled across the board with getting their prospects to provide major league impact. They've since 180'd the pitching and have become a frontier pitching development organization. Nonetheless, they've still struggled to get much value out of their position player prospects and it was often the case for their top prospects to bust and not be able to provide any impact with their bats. As recent as of 2025-2026, I believe this is finally starting to change for the good. We saw dozens of prospects from all categories/backgrounds: IFA Older, minor league contract projects Older draft picks Newer draft picks All collectively take steps forward with the bat this season, each making numerous tangible changes to their profiles that resulted in plenty of respectable results (as shown below, for a non-exhaustive list of what I'm talking about). Compounding this with the success that we saw the home grown guys like George and Spencer bring to the major league roster this season, I think there's a lot of young talent to be excited about and enough success/improvement in NYY development to have belief that a handful of these guys on the horizon are the makings of a new core beyond the Judge/Cole/Stanton era. I pin a lot of the failures of this era of Yankee baseball on the failures of the position player development through this interval. The holes that the Yankees had/have through these seasons all should have been more compensated via internal options, yet it was bust after bust after bust from high pedigree talents that dug the Yankee holes deeper than they needed to be. Teams don't win championships without the help of their homegrown guys. Look at the Dodgers and see how many home grown players there are littered on the roster making an impact. It also forces the GM to be more stingy making trades at the deadline because there is not as much talent to replenish what you trade away. But I think that's finally starting to come around and I don't think the future past Judge is a dark path in the slightest
🧵I will continue to say the most promising take away about the Yankees organization this season is the absolute massive step forward that the hitting took across all minor league levels. The pitching in aggregate took a step back only from injuries but pitching dev has been a strength of the Yankees for almost this whole decade and they are still in elite minor/major league status in that regard. But what's not being talked about enough is how drastic a step forward the hitting dev seems to have taken this season...and I'm not just talking top prospects. Let me go one-by-one talking about how many older guys are having stand out seasons in their careers due to tangible adjustments made this season. I'm going to go through a thread highlighting a bunch of guys, both younger/older, that the Yankees' dev team improved this season. 🧵
