Prairie #Warbler: a beautiful and active #bird of semi-open habitat, with a cheerful ascending zee-zee-zee-zee-zee song. Generally rare in Ontario, Canada, they are locally 'common' breeders in eastern #GeorgianBay and southern Shield habitats. Anyone know what bug it's eating?

With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.

We now have Piping Plover chicks on the beach at both @WasagaBeachPP and @PresquilePP! These chicks are extremely vulnerable at this young age and require support from everyone visiting their breeding beaches.

Driftwood may not look like much, but it is important habitat for many creatures, such as small reptiles and amphibians, and small mammals! If you come across driftwood during your visit to the park, please leave it as you found it, to keep animal homes and shelters intact.

There should be avian prizes for song volume adjusted for bird size. If that were the case, #Wrens and R-c Kinglets would surely be among the winners! I love the loud, tinkling, boisterous song of tiny Winter Wrens emanating from shady #Hemlock ravines. #NorfolkCounty #LongPoint

It's been interesting to watch & photograph Northern Flickers excavate a nesting cavity. Some photos capture the moment they come to the cavity opening with a beak full of wood chips & sawdust, with eyes closed (makes sense). Other images show them shaking wood from their beaks

Beautiful white fungi cling to a tree trunk against the verdant greens of a #Carolinian #forest in spring. The subtle back-lighting seems to add to the ecological intimacy - and to the contrasts implicit with #fungi and the new growth. #nature #hiking #NorfolkCounty

Last minute #Toronto #birding opportunity. Swift Night Out (downtown). Great to see this video of mine from a few years ago. Happy, birdy memories. I remember vividly some of the fun conversations and people from that night!
