One thing about webhooks: you don't control the other end. Your customer's server can be down. It can be slow. It can return a 500. It can rate-limit you. It can take 30 seconds to respond. And your webhook system still has to deal with all of that without losing events or bringing your own system down. This is why webhook delivery is an infrastructure problem, and why we built Convoy. Try Convoy for free: getconvoy.io/trial

I think one of the easiest things to underestimate when building a webhook system is everything that happens after the HTTP request. The actual request is probably the easy part. Then you have retries, duplicates, ordering, rate limits, failed endpoints, replay, logs... And before you know it, “let's add webhooks” has become an entire infrastructure project 😂 You can build it yourself, of course. But you don't have to. Ship webhooks. Skip the infrastructure. We’re excited to share that Convoy has surpassed 100K Docker pulls! 🚀 100,000+ times, engineers have chosen to pull Convoy and run it for their webhook infrastructure. That’s a big deal for us. Convoy started with a simple idea: teams shouldn’t have to build and maintain webhook infrastructure from scratch. Seeing that idea reach more and more engineers is incredibly rewarding. To everyone who has downloaded, deployed, contributed, shared feedback, recommended Convoy, or simply given it a try — thank you❤️ And if you haven’t tried Convoy yet, now is a great time. Start your 14-day free trial, no credit card required. 👉 getconvoy.io/trial

You already know someone who could use better webhook infrastructure. Now you can get rewarded for introducing them to Convoy. We’ve launched our referral program, and you can earn up to $1,000 when someone you refer becomes a Convoy customer. If you know a team dealing with webhook retries, delivery failures, observability, event ordering, or just too much webhook infrastructure to maintain themselves, send them our way. Refer someone here: getconvoy.io/referrals

Some teams want webhook infrastructure as a managed service. Others need it inside their own environment. With Convoy Self-Hosted, you control where it runs, where your webhook data lives, and how it fits into your infrastructure. Deploy with Docker or Kubernetes. Community is free. Premium is now free to try for 14 days. getconvoy.io/self-hosted

Building webhook infrastructure is one thing. Building the UI your customers need to manage their webhooks is another. With Convoy Portal Links, your customers can manage their endpoints, subscriptions, and webhook deliveries themselves. You don't have to build and maintain that experience from scratch. Portal Links are available with Convoy Premium, now free to try for 14 days. getconvoy.io/self-hosted

Webhooks are one of the most common ways APIs communicate, but they're also a common target for attackers when they're not properly secured. In this post, we break down the security practices every API provider should implement to protect webhook deliveries and reduce risk. Read the full guide: getconvoy.io/blog/webhook-se…

A good test for your webhook platform: Can a customer answer "What happened to my event?" without contacting your team? If the answer is no, your engineers aren't the only ones lacking visibility. The best webhook systems make it easy for both operators and customers to understand what's happening. Convoy gives engineering teams and their customers visibility into webhook deliveries without digging through logs. One of the most useful questions to ask during a webhook incident: "What can I learn in 30 seconds?" If I need to SSH into a server, grep logs, query a database, and check three dashboards, we're already losing time. The faster you can answer basic questions, the faster you can resolve incidents. If answering those questions takes longer than 30 seconds, it might be time to rethink your webhook infrastructure. A dashboard showing 99% webhook delivery success can still hide a very bad day. Reliability isn't about averages, That remaining 1% might contain business-critical events. When failures happen, the questions that matter are: • What failed? • Which customers were affected? • Why did it fail? • Did retries eventually succeed? • Is this a one-off issue or a pattern? The goal of observability isn't to tell us that something is broken. It's to help us understand the impact, find the root cause quickly, and reduce the chances of it happening again. And if building and maintaining all of this sounds like more work than you'd like to own, check out Convoy at getconvoy.io. #webhooks #webhookinfrastructure #engineering #observability #convoy #convoywebhooks #webhookgateway

how does your team handle webhook secret rotation without breaking live customer integrations?

Your webhook endpoint is a public URL. anyone who knows it can POST to it. this can be fixed using signature verification. but a valid signature doesn't mean a fresh request. without a timestamp check, an attacker can replay a payload you already processed hours later and your system will accept it without question. Convoy handles this out of the box. getconvoy.io

If you're an API provider sending webhooks to customers, idempotency is not optional. But there's a big difference between documenting it and actually enforcing it at every layer that matters. At some point a webhook will fire, the response will drop, and a retry will arrive. What happens then? That's the infrastructure Convoy provides out of the box for every webhook your platform delivers. So your team can focus on building your product instead of building and maintaining this layer yourselves. getconvoy.io #engineering #SaaS #webhooks #developertools #convoy #convoywebooks #webhookgateway #getconvoy
