We are cranking away and leveling up Navie’s ability to write code alongside you.
This is for multi file changes, refactors, and work that requires deep context! Plays nice with a completer but does not aspire to be one :-)

A picture is worth a thousand words of context. 🖼️
Diagrams of code *behavior* using AppMap runtime data are so much more focused and result in better AI coding recommendations for complex tasks. Diagrams are great for human coders too 👩💻

Welp, if you don't exercise the codepath before you release maybe you won't find that null pointer exception ... this can be a problem. Guess they didn't write a test case for it and the canary approach didn't work... soooo maybe time for dev centric observability and dynamic code analysis instead of bringing the world to a halt?

Developer centric observability is having its moment. As more code contributors, particularly AI, lead to worse general understanding of app design and app behavior the fragility of software systems will increase exponentially. The system must continually describe itself throughout the a change process. With AI and dev centric observability data the cost of this is negligible and we can end “testing in prod” for good.

Really excited to be partnering with MongoDB as part of their AI ecosystem. AppMap and NavieAI makes it easier than ever for developers to migrate their code from other data stores to MongoDB and to keep their code optimized as their applications grow and evolve.
In June, we welcomed seven new #AI partners integrating with MongoDB: @getappmap, @mendableai, @OneAILabs, @prequel_ai, Qarbine, @temporalio, and @UnstructuredIO. These partnerships leverage MongoDB to unlock AI’s potential for developers and businesses.

Like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, SWEBench is an #AIcoding challenge that is as much about efficiency & stability as it is about raw power or ability to spend money. @getappmap 's Navie AI posted 14.6% solution rate, currently 2nd place ahead of Amazon Q and others. We achieved this "on a budget" at $0.88 per issue attempt, up to 20x less costly than others. Learn more about our race for benchmark here.

BETTER CONTEXT = BETTER CODE. Hence AI code completion should be:
✔️Application and Code Aware
✔️Runtime and Static Analysis
✔️API Aware
✔️Works in Dev and CI

I'm super excited with what we've been working on at @getappmap. AppMap Navie AI.
We've taken AppMap generated traces and sequence diagrams to power a RAG model for super accurate AI responses that understand the entire code base. 🤯

(1/4) Have you seen @getappmap? It’s pretty incredible. As much as I love (and use) AI for development, I’ve struggled with the idea of having AI do the heavy lifting. This concept is being adopted as the default process in some companies I’ve applied to.

There are many projects with visual modeling on the fly with no maintenance, such as @girba ‘s work, my project, @getappmap dynamic/runtime analysis in the code editor, which includes sequence diagrams to communicate code behavior for wip changes. Better tooling for development includes on demand, visual modeling as a part of the development process, rather than a standalone “documentation” requiring maintenance.

Who needs ready-made databases when you can roll your own, right? 😅 To support @getappmap ‘s observability inside the code editor, and AppMap running “offline” in CI, we built our own database. Honeycomb built a database. Is this a common design theme for folks innovating in the observability space? 🤷♀️#DIYDatabase
