@infogamerist and I workshopped Cataloguing Code of Ethics. It's not another thing for cataloguers to do. You are already thinking about your users and how your decisions and practice affect search and discovery. #CILIPMDG2023 presentations demonstrate this commitment 🙂.
We're pleased to say that presentations from the MDG Conference #CILIPMDG2023 are now available to view on our Slideshare account at: slideshare.net/CILIPCIG/clip…

Poor or a lack of metadata leads to a lack of visibility for collections and for metadata staff, this leads to a lack of knowledge about both which, in turn can lead to a lack of staffing in these areas as the value of metadata & metadata staff are not well understood #CILIPMDG23

Alan leaves us with these key takeaways:
Metadata is an institutional asset
• Good metadata repays the investment over a long period of time
Metadata loses value over time unless maintained to:
• Adapt to changing user expectations
• Adapt to new technologies
