Closing out the year with a big new release, v5.3.0-alpha1! Get your hands on the pre-release with color modes, expanded color palette, new utilities, and more! blog.getbootstrap.com/2022/1…
Wishing everyone an amazing holiday break and a Happy New Year! Catch y’all in 2023 🎉🥂💜
Latest iteration on our internal tooling for managing hundreds of issues, PRs, and discussions. Months ago, I had @conductor_build & Claude scan our old issues and PRs, organize by group, learn my voice, and then respond. Long story short, we don't ship v6 without new tools.
This is the new dashboard @mdo and I use to triage everything open on Bootstrap. Agents analyze each issue, PR and discussion, draft the answer, and prepare a fix when needed. We still make every call.

ALT The Triage dashboard for twbs/bootstrap. On the left, status filters (Action, Decision, Waiting, Not analysed) above a list of issues and pull requests sorted quickest first, each with an ease score out of 10. On the right, a "Pick the next item" panel suggests starting with pull request #42948, ease 10. Planned outcomes are blurred.
One of my favorite changes in Bootstrap 6 is token maps. They’re Sass maps for CSS variables that get emitted on component class or `:root`, meaning no matter how you customize Bootstrap (in Sass or compiled CSS), you’re just writing CSS. Stoked we came up with this solution.
Absolutely huge day today—Bootstrap 6 Alpha 1 has arrived! Refreshed design, updated docs, new components, new Sass/CSS approach, more modern frontend stack, updated tooling. getbootstrap.com

For v5 folks, we'll be doing a v5.x release soon once we catch our breath. In the meantime, enjoy the new v6 hotness, new blog, and new icons, too!

Here's the blog post about the initial release: blog.getbootstrap.com/2026/1….
Bootstrap turned 15!
To celebrate, I'm happy to share that the first v6 alpha is coming soon! Buttoning up a few things and writing a lengthy blog post to highlight the new Sass+CSS approach, new components & plugins, new standards, new theming, and more. Stay tuned.

The nostalgia seeing this homepage is crazy
I remember copy pasta’ing the ever living crap outta those three basic templates at the bottom of the page
In many ways, bootstrap kicked off the modern SV dev scene as we know it. Design system w/ variables, components, etc. It took the ecosystem the following 9 years of the decade to fully flesh these core ideas out with things like React, storybook, etc
@fat @mdo are goated. Also, honored to have stackblitz powering the live examples on the bootstrap site the past years!
Lots of happenings lately for v6's development!
One new idea is to move from component-specific modifiers to global ones. Take this example—use `.theme-primary` on all components, or on a parent, and even override where needed.
Also, spot the new button variants? 👀
These theme modifiers are generated from the new theme colors map we've been building. Looks a little wild, but the use of CSS's `light-dark()` color function makes these also immediately adaptive to OS color modes.
Would you prefer a v5 breaking change to support Sass modules (drop Node Sass, modify imports, iron out a few customizing issues)? Or a jump right to v6?
🚢 Holy ship!
v5.3.6 is here and while technically only a patch release, it's a massive update. We've officially migrated our docs off Hugo and onto @astrodotbuild. Massive undertaking by @JulienDeramond. Onto v5.4.0 pending any more urgent fixes.

Just a heads up—we have two big efforts underway for Bootstrap with migrating the docs to Astro for our next v5.3 release and early v6 development. Astro unblocks us from dropping Node Sass, which will allow us to focus on Dart Sass and those deprecation warnings. Coming soon!
See the Astro migration PR here: github.com/twbs/bootstrap/pu…
We just published a quick v5.3.5 to fix a floating labels regression in Firefox due to a bug in a dependency. Docs rolling out now. github.com/twbs/bootstrap/re…
Have a good weekend!
Bootstrap v5.3.4 is live. Get the details at blog.getbootstrap.com/2025/0….
Please enjoy this fresh little drop while we keep hammering away on migrating from Hugo to Astro for our docs, dropping Node Sass so we can fix some Dart Sass deprecation issues, and of course v6.
Heads up for those on older versions of Bootstrap—checkout the @herodevs fixes for the following security vulnerabilities.
HeroDevs has patched three medium-risk vulnerabilities in Bootstrap 3 and 4:
🚨CVE-2024-6484: XSS in Bootstrap 3 Carousel.
🚨CVE-2024-6485: XSS in Bootstrap 3 Button.
🚨CVE-2024-6531: XSS in Bootstrap 4 Carousel.

It's early to be thinking about v6 more holistically, but it's still fun to capture easy changes we really can't make until then on @pierrecomputer for now. For example, a breaking change like moving ratio helpers to utilities. pierre.co/share/c61e6401-9f8…
