GEO500 progress @majgeoinvesting @thekevintcarter: 1. Spent 10 days in Claude, Gemini scouring every last emerging and frontier market for geospatial stocks. Interesting how so many of these exchanges don't have stocks but bonds etc instead. 2. haven't gotten to market cap yet
GEO500 work backlog: 1. Continue adding frontier, emerging markets stocks following episode with @thekevintcarter 2. Add micro cap classification following discussions with @MicroCapHound and @majgeoinvesting

FUCKING MENTAL
Tech blogger 神奇阿宇 from Hubei, China, built a working hoverboard. Electric, with 10 brushless motors pushing over 30kg of thrust each—enough to lift 4 people—and peak current hitting 2,000 amps. 2 STEPX Neo phones as the board's brain. One inside the board reads posture data in real time; the other on his wrist feeds AI voice prompts through his earbuds—"Weight's shifting left!" "Bend your right knee!" After 10+ days of brutal training and AI-assisted correction, he achieved man-machine sync.

RustGIS is now on the Microsoft Store! On Windows 10 and 11, you can now install RustGIS from the Microsoft Store in one click. No installer to download, no security warnings, and the Store keeps it up to date with each new release. What you get - The full desktop app: the ribbon, panes, map view, attribute table, geoprocessing tools and the AI Assistant. - Open data, built in: search STAC catalogs, Planetary Computer, Overture Maps, Source Cooperative, OpenStreetMap and other open-data portals. - Cloud-native formats read in place: GeoParquet, FlatGeobuf and cloud-optimised GeoTIFFs open by their web address. - The command line too: rustgis-cli is ready in your terminal as soon as the app is installed. - Free and open source, with no sign-up needed. Get it - Microsoft Store: apps.microsoft.com/detail/9p… - Or from a terminal: winget install OpenGeos.RustGIS - Not on Windows? Launch the web app: web.rustgis.app - Other downloads: downloads.rustgis.app - Documentation: rustgis.app - GitHub: github.com/opengeos/RustGIS #GIS #Rust #OpenSource #Geospatial #Windows #MicrosoftStore #OpenData

Wealthy entrepreneur who lives in a car-centric enclave with no sidewalks and that's not close to the Beltline (I looked it up) decides we don't need rail transit on the Beltline. Cool opinion, bro. ajc.com/opinion/2026/10/atla… – at Atlanta, GA

RustGIS just surpassed 1,000 GitHub stars ⭐, 140 forks, and 9 contributors in only three days! A huge thank you to everyone who has starred the repository, shared the project, reported issues, or contributed code. If you haven't tried RustGIS yet, give it a try! - Web App: web.rustgis.app - Download: downloads.rustgis.app - GitHub: github.com/opengeos/RustGIS Contributions of all kinds are welcome! Whether you're an experienced developer or just getting started, you can help by reporting bugs, suggesting features, improving documentation, or submitting pull requests. You don't need to be coder to contribute. LLM-assisted contributions are very welcome. The goal is simple: Build a fast, free, open-source, and accessible GIS platform for everyone. Let's build it together! #GIS #OpenSource #FOSS

I’ve mapped social vulnerability in DeKalb County using CDC 2022 data. wilfredwaters.github.io/deka…. A layer highlights tracts where lack of a high school diploma is a major structural driver. The Dunwoody cluster tracts are outlined in blue - high performing schools & unused seats.

During the research for this project, Opus agents made an interesting discovery: a LIDAR scan of the aircraft carrier. On their own initiative, they realized that in 2024, Washington State DNR did an aerial LIDAR survey... which included Puget Sound. "Could this LIDAR data include the Nimitz?" they wondered. They investigated. Sure enough, they matched raw LIDAR point data to what could only be a huge ship. It was the Nimitz. Nimitz was alongside at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, for a maintenance period. She happened to be under the survey aircraft's flight path, so she's in the public Geospatial data. (sources in comments) With that public-but-buried data, Opus was able to match the model to nearly-exact dimensions from the laser scan. How much other data like this is hiding in plain sight?
Weekend project: Claude Opus and I modeled an entire U.S.S. NIMITZ aircraft carrier in Three.js. Accurate based on publicly-available image and data research. (AI agents found sources, model iterated) Fully working launch system, F/A-18s, MH-60 Seahawks, E-2D Advanced Hawkeye.

Unstoppable
RustGIS v0.2.0 is here! RustGIS is a fast, free and open-source GIS in pure Rust for mapping, analyzing and sharing geospatial data. It runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, and in your web browser. Your data stays on your machine unless you send it to an AI model you choose, and every action is a command you can script. This release opens far more of your data, even in the browser, adds an MCP server so AI agents can make maps, and reorganises the ribbon around how you work. What's new in v0.2.0 - More data formats: GeoPackage, GeoParquet, FlatGeobuf, KML/KMZ, GPX, zipped Shapefiles and PMTiles open natively, large files stream a view at a time, and all of them work in the web app too. - Export anywhere: save layers as GeoPackage, GeoParquet, Shapefile or KMZ. - SQL with DuckDB: run SQL queries and open DuckDB databases through DuckDB Spatial, and read File Geodatabase, DXF and more through GDAL. - MCP server: AI agents like Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code can drive RustGIS and make maps with rustgis-cli mcp. - A ribbon in the order of the work: Home, Data, Style, Edit, Analyze, View and Publish, translated into all 15 interface languages. - Easy to install and keep current: Homebrew, the AUR, Fedora COPR and winget, plus Check for Updates in the Help tab. Try it out - Launch the web app: web.rustgis.app - Download: downloads.rustgis.app - Documentation: rustgis.app - GitHub: github.com/opengeos/RustGIS - Release notes: github.com/opengeos/RustGIS/… #GIS #Rust #OpenSource #Geospatial #RustGIS

Guy doesn't know crap. AI will liberate people and billions will compete against mega corps for services and goods - 3D printed custom parts, homes, food harvested by robots, etc... Falling margins will destroy mega corps.
