I think we should start having a little discussion about how 'Sovereign Europe' as a concept needs a decent amount of industrial policy to get done.

The problem with many contemporary self-described anti-imperialists is that they are not actually anti-imperialist by nature.
When you strip away their politics, you find that at their core is an ideological opposition to the West.
An actual anti-imperialist would acknowledge Putin’s foreign policy for what it is, while also acknowledging the West’s faults and failings.

In light of the articles about Ukraine's Patriot shortage: Something that's important to understand about Ukraine's very limited supply of Patriot interceptors is that they run out almost every month by around mid month. This has been the case since early summer at least. But it happened on other occasions earlier, too. The US sends shipments of Pac-2 and Pac-3 interceptors to Kyiv in small batches, sometimes ~5-15 at a time, as they are produced. So we could write pretty much every month, 'Ukraine is out of Patriot missiles,' because after the first Russian attacks each month it's often the case.
Exclusive: Ukraine has run out of missiles for the US-made Patriot air defense system, leaving it more vulnerable to Russian ballistic missile attacks, a source familiar with the situation told CNN on Thursday.

Russia has demonstratively disregarded the American President’s proposal for an energy ceasefire. And now it is taking advantage of problems with Starlink operations to cause maximum destruction to everything that sustains everyday life.
Emmanuel and I discussed various ways to counter this. In particular, new packages to strengthen our combat aviation will be provided this month. We are also accelerating work on European anti-ballistic defense – FREYJA needs to become operational by the end of the year.
