..making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade.”
Of all of the criticisms of low church Protestants you could come up with, Ladders was your hill to die on?
Very common pivot by Howerton. Almost every time someone calls him on something, his go to is “You’re gonna hate Jesus/the Bible/Heaven…”
Howerton has learned from Driscoll in how to evade accountability and flip it back onto the people calling him out. In almost every interaction you see of him responding to something he’s been called out on, his go to is “If this upsets you, then you’re going to be upset by Jesus…” It’s pure ego and pride to equate EVERYTHING you do as a pastor to be justified simply by injecting God into it.
I think this will be a good season for Kyler, but I think that if he’d played that Bears game, it would’ve stunted that outlook for the rest of the season.
Man, it’s not even Love. He’s not playing great, but you could set a torch to almost everything that’s not injured and be left with about as much as you started with it’s so bad.
Let me be clear: the Packers have not been a good football team 2 weeks into the season.
But the way the media is lambasting this team you’d think they lost to the Deshaun Watson Cleveland browns last weekend.
They played an UGLY 4th quarter that cost them the game against the Vikings, the same team the Bears put up 3 points against btw. And they looked bad against the 1-0 Jets but snuck out a win.
I agree they need to make a statement against the Falcons, and if they lose I’ll be singing a different tune. But why is Jordan Love the primary target when both the Bucs and Chargers are 0-2 against awful competition?
Scalpers are the natural ends of a lack of supply. The lack of understanding of this by the scalpers leaves them open to getting melted down and scrapped by people simply producing more.
There are reasons why I try and use this site as a hunting grounds to find people to interact with, and talk elsewhere with them.

I advanced bills to do these things.
I voted against bills that did not.
But Trump, the swamp, and a foreign lobby decided to take me out for it.
Do you not see you are trading futility for an inevitable “Let it come, for I can do nothing?” Great man theory rots the mind and gives many excuse for personal apathy towards action. It is the philosophy of the day that will change matters, not the appearance of some great man.

Elite theory is not an ideology. It is a framework that provides an explanation of how power functions. Our entire discussion around this was about the futility of thinking the demos has any ability to affect the bureaucracy and oligarchy that remains stable regardless of electoral politics. We are not saying "do not seek power" - that's James Lindsay. We are not saying to lay over and die like a dog. We are saying that electoral politics is a waste of energy.
"It is true that Christians, so far as they themselves are concerned, are subject neither to law nor sword, and have need of neither.
But take heed; first fill the world with real Christians before attempting to rule it in a Christian and evangelical manner.
This you will never accomplish; for the world and the masses are and always will be un-Christian, even if they are baptized and Christian in name."
