To be clear, the only reason I was able to reach Heidi was because young Palestinians provided cover with rocks against machine-gun- and tear-gas-wielding settlers and soldiers. It’s those kids, not the settler terrorists, who the IDF was hunting after the attack.
This is @infinite_jaz rushing to help Heidi under fire from Israeli settlers slings

Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

Palestinian farmers and activists were forced away from olive groves in the occupied West Bank village of Beita after Israeli settlers and soldiers fired in their direction Friday. The confrontation disrupted the annual olive harvest, a crucial source of income for many Palestinian families and a generations-old tradition. This comes as violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank has risen sharply this year.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship yesterday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas during the 1960s. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes before purchasing without adhering to certain conditions. For instance, they had to try on clothes over their clothes, put on protective covers when trying on hats, or weren't allowed to make returns once they purchased clothes and brought them home. These policies stemmed from the racist fear that white customers would refuse merchandise previously worn by Black shoppers. The downtown Neiman Marcus flagship was one of the first major Dallas businesses that broke with these practices. In 1961, the company desegregated its Zodiac Room, a swanky restaurant frequented by Dallas elites. Neiman Marcus later welcomed Black shoppers without restrictions. These victories were achieved through the efforts of Civil Rights activists, along with support from Neiman Marcus president Stanley Marcus, who was an early advocate for desegregation in Dallas. The Neiman Marcus store manager purportedly warned Marcus that he would ruin his business — and indeed, some shoppers closed their accounts — but he stuck with his decision. At the time of the flagship's closure, the Main Street store had been open for 112 years.

A New York deli owner’s program has raised over $587,000 to reward kids for good grades. Wail Alselwi, co-owner of Zack’s Finest Deli & Grocery in Staten Island, started ‘Grades for Grabs’ in 2023. Kids with an average of 90 or higher can get $100 and items from the store. He also rewards kids who improve their grades. Donations to a GoFundMe help fund the rewards. [🎥: @islandock1 ]

HUGE: Zohran Mamdani just won a $131.5 million settlement from DoorDash after finding the tech giant underpaid 260,000 delivery workers for years. It’s the largest labor enforcement action in American municipal history. We spoke to NYC Commissioner Sam Levine about how the administration is holding the billion-dollar company accountable and cracking down on greedy algorithms that shortchange workers.
