During our recent visit to The Hague, on the sides of ICAN Forum, we along @whatthewomensay WASL members from Yemen, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Myanmar, and South Sudan, met Dutch MPs @suzanne_GL, @MpanzuBamenga and Nicole Maes to discuss WPS issues including the impact of funding cuts on women-led organisations, and the need to protect and resource women human rights defenders and peacebuilders. The meeting was organised and facilitated by @oxfamnovib and @genderplatform #SheBuildsPeace

🇳🇱 The Netherlands’ three #WPS priorities, presented by Minister @ministerBHOS at #UNGA81:
✅ Participation: bringing women to the peace table
✅ Protection: putting survivors at the heart of accountability
✅ Funding: more support for women-led organizations

🎉 WO=MEN wordt 20 jaar! Dat vieren we op vrijdag 27 november in Den Haag met een jubileumfestival. Verwacht workshops, een talkshow, kunst, activisme én silent disco. 💜 Met o.a. Stephanie Afrifa en Devika Partiman. Kom je ook?

📣 Goed nieuws uit de Tweede Kamer: de motie van @ellesvanark c.s. voor een geïntegreerde 4D-strategie is aangenomen! Investeer in development, diplomacy, defence én democracy.

📣 It's the last day of the Security Reimagined Forum, hosted in partnership with @whatthewomensay.
We're ready for another day of learning, connecting, and collective action for more inclusive peace and security. #WPS #NAP1325
🌎 Thank you Inge Kauer from @CARE Nederland, for highlighting at the @whatthewomensay Women, Peace, Security Forum how INGOs can bridge the gap between local action and policy. Local women-led dispute resolution deserves greater visibility and should inform policy upwards. #WPS

Closing remarks from @pd_hof: "The current security situation paints a grim picture, conflicts are deadlier, more complex, and last longer. Civil space is shrinking. We are not talking about #WomenPeaceSecurity enough. Keeping #WPS on the agenda is an urgent task."
#NAP1325
"The #WomenPeaceSecurity agenda should not only be something we project onto countries such as Mali or Afghanistan. We must also bring these lessons home and ask ourselves what kind of relationship we want between our security services and our society."
6/6
"We need to remain connected to society and ensure that our institutions better reflect the societies they serve, especially in these times, when it comes to women's representation and participation. We are making progress, but we are not doing enough yet."
5/6
"One of the most important lessons is that women need to be involved much earlier in peace processes. Women bring communities together. Women bring talent, perspective, and legitimacy. In conflict-affected societies peace and security cannot be left to men with guns."
3/6
“When I arrived in Mali, the peace agreement had been negotiated, but women were not included in the process. Through the #NAP1325, we amplified women's voices. Women were able to engage with the UNSC and increased their representation within the peace agreement mechanisms.
2/6
Koen Davidse, Director General for Policy of the Ministry of Defense at the @whatthewomensay and #Dutch
@NAP1325 event: "I knew of the importance of the NAP1325 but when I served in Mali I understood how crucial NAP1325 is in conflict related regions."
1/6
Mirjam Blom, Senior Prosecutor for International Crimes, Dutch National Public Prosecutor’s Office: "Doing a case here can be important for the broader community. We always need to take this in account because outreach to the victim community is very important."
