A new issue of @thebafflermag is here, with work by @Barry_Yeoman @Lizzie_OShea @gender_fail @danroyles @warghetti and more: thebaffler.com/issues/no-56

no. 56—The Counterpublic Option

In Baffler no. 56, our writers mine borderlands and boxing rings, national forests and MFA programs, to ask the questions omitted by our emaciated public sphere. For one: What about counterpublics?

I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment. Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate. We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath.

GenderFail written in all our font made from protest fonts.

In graduate school I made this artist book “Husband Calling Competition” that looked at these competitions at county fairs around the Midwest, where women took the stage to perform “husband calls” in this hyper real performance of heteronormativity.
GenderFail Reader 3 ends with the “Say Their Name Protest Font” on essay on my newest protest font based on signs displaying the name of black people that have been murdered by the police. #saytheirname #BlackLivesMatter
Can we get the hashtag #trumpisaloser going? It would piss him and his base off so much.

In this piece for C147 GATHER, Cason Sharpe (@casonsharpe) reviews the book Consciousness by Lex Brown (@gender_fail), comparing Brown’s peripatetic approach to the artist monograph genre with W. E. B. Du Bois’s “double consciousness.” Read it at: cmagazine.com/issues/147/con…
