Caliban Shrieks. This brilliant book has been the focus of my life for 2 years. One of the best English works of the last century - forced from print, for 7 decades, by snobbery.
It's back! @vintageclassics and I have a new edition out, March 7th đ§š

Unions (and strikes) are the only reason our working conditions have not deteriorated further and will only improve if we are united

This strike isn't just about the pay of staff on permanent contracts, it's about the casualisation and precarity of academic jobs. Before getting my job at UEA in 2013 I worked for years as an hourly paid lecturer. I worked at Royal Holloway, Birkbeck, QMUL, & Uni of Surrey.

Solidarity to all those on strike today đȘ

ALT Black and white illustration by Walter Crane titled 'Labour's May Day' and âDedicated to all the workers of the worldâ. A banner saying âSolidarity of Labour' spans a globe, which is circled by six workers who have downed tools. Above them is a woman as the symbol of freedom; around the edge a banner with the words fraternity and equality and the names of the continents.

Good morning and welcome to the first day of strike action in the second wave of #UCURising.
Reminder: none of our members want to be on strike. We want to be in classrooms and offices, teaching and researching and supporting that work. Negotiation is still possible.

If your reason for not striking in the upcoming @ucu action is because you canât afford it, thereâs a national fighting fund & branch hardship funds to help.
