I feel there’s no harm in introducing SwiftUI code into an app gradually. But I don’t understand the rush to rewrite software in a new & nascent framework. Users don’t care if their Mac app is written in AppKit, UIKit or SwiftUI. But they do care about performance & reliability

I’d love some feedback/validation on github.com/AU-COVIDSafe/mobi… These two locked iPhones had been sitting together for 30 mins before I took this video. The logs show exchanges were not made until after I unlocked the device. It doesn’t look like “100% performance” to me, at all.

Quick summary on today's COVIDSafe news: 1. This is not "engaging with the tech community". The code is not inspection quality, and despite numerous CVEs and serious issues raised, nobody I know was contacted or notified of this.

8. Despite using the same underlying payload, the old and new BLE systems are not compatible. Which means that _everyone_ has to update. But auto-updating (especially on Android) has not worked well for COVIDSafe.

The new Herald-based COVIDSafe app will abuse the iOS location APIs to run in the background, get your GPS location but pinky-swear that it won't use it, and sacrifice your battery in the process. Throw it in the fire and just use Exposure Notifications.

As a mobile engineer, this technology is pathetic, limited, and interferes with other tech out there. You have gone out of your way to eschew platform technologies for control. Your thirst for control could cost lives. Absolutely pathetic.
