All time hero Benjamin Zephaniah leaves us. So sad. A totally inspirational human being. Offered an OBE he said 'up yours!". Too right! This one is an eternal Optimo fave - youtube.com/watch?v=n_PRL1Z_…

Devastating to hear that Benjamin Zephaniah has passed. As a writer, activist and patron of PSC he always stood steadfast with the Palestinian people and fought against racism and for justice for all his life.

This thread is *required reading* for anyone who doesn’t understand why pro Israeli perspectives and talking points stand in such stark contrast to the calls for an end to Israel’s apartheid system and ongoing military oppression of Palestinians. It really is kind of complicated.

When Farage, his cronies & his political doppelgängers talk about “controlling immigration” they primarily mean preventing non-white people being British. People of colour everywhere are “sick of being punching bags” & “justifying our existence” as @DrAmirKhanGP explains:
“I’m tired Lorraine of having to justify my existence by the worth I bring to this country”

“The worst ever.” Those are the stark words of @UNReliefChief Martin Griffiths, about the death and destruction in Gaza. Having worked in the field for decades, he adds “I don’t say that lightly.” Watch our full conversation.

The Director of the UN's New York office just resigned after thirty years at the organisation over the UN's handling of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.
The entirety of his resignation letter is a necessary read but this first page blew me away.
