A major boost for Zombie Preparedness that few appreciate.
Back in 2002 when the first Resident Evil came out, almost no one had a EDC flashlight; he would have been using a Bic lighter to navigate Raccoon City. Now with Iphones, everyone has a pretty decent flashlight in their pocket.
That said, multiple scenes in the movie also highlighted the short range of a cellphone light, and how beneficial it is to have a real EDC light that can throw a beam down a tunnel or hallway. Which as a flashlight nerd I really appreciated, as it validated my life choices :)
Anti Drone Shotgun Limitations
Even with Tungsten pellets, the penetration at 60yd is comparable to a kids BB gun at 550fps, and at 100yds it's well below BB gun performance.
Given the durable plastic and now carbon fiber of drones, and the need to either physically break them or penetrate their batteries or circuit boards, it's unlikely this drone ammo would be able to stop a drone unless it got lucky and broke off a propeller.
It's likely the 5.56 driven 4 BB rounds fired at full auto are a better choice, as their larger projectiles + much higher velocity (~3,000fps vs ~1,200fps) will result in higher chances of disabling the drone.
Another alternative that may be worth looking into is Fllechette ammo for 12g, which tends to have much higher penetration and velocity retention. Though historically these have struggled to pattern well.

Of all the discontinued Ruger products, the PC Carbine is the most surprising to me.
That's pretty much the optimal Ban State compliant rifle for normies who already have a Glock.
I wonder if the increased price of Tungsten (used in the PC bolt) is what killed it?
While I think the majority of the market for this are hobbyists, I could see an underbarrel 12g having some Mil utility as an emergency last ditch drone defense tool against FPV's.
Potentially the 'net rounds' that put up a 6-10' wide net could be made to work in it as well.
This is from a video 2 years ago, A Canadian company, Marstar, apparently was working on them, for the Canadian market. Underbarrel 12 gage single shot shotgun
well now that SBS's and AOW's are no longer NFA regulated, these can likey be imported, or at least made here. Anyone have any contacts with them?
I want one, and another one in .410

Testing of civilian Anti Drone ammo shows pretty solid performance even with Lead BB's, not the military Tungsten.
While there are fewer pellets than a shotgun, the much higher velocity of the 5.56 pellets has been reported to be more damaging to drones at distance.
More real life Bond: WW2 Cigarette Gun
Designed for British spy's operating behind German lines, this 'last cigarette' might allow them to escape capture and execution.
From "The Ultimate Spy Book" by H. Keith Melton, which is full of all sorts of wonderful gadgets.
Biggest downside of the Carl Gustaf is the tremendous Backblast.
Not only does this announce the shooters position, but it can also stun or even kill the operator if fired from indoors, or from a bunker or compact trench. All likely scenarios for a country resisting Invasion.
IMO theres a strong argument to be made for going with disposable systems like the RGW-90 family that offer much of the performance and accuracy of the CG, but allow for a 'Fire from Enclosure' ability that allows them to fired indoors safely, with minimal flash and report for reduced detection.
I think the cooler option would be Glock made AR mags, built like their pistol mags: full length steel liner with polymer overmolding.
30SC had a lot of potential as a PDW round.
Ian here shows a 30rd mag for 7.65 French (basically a lower pressure 30sc) and how much shorter it is compared to a 30rd 9mm mag.
Could have made for more compact PDW's, or 40rd mags the length of a 33rd Glock mag.
Where are my fellow 30 Super Carry fans? Kind of joking, because for now this round is still the red-headed stepchild of the industry. It's actually a fantastic idea because it has similar ballistics to the 9mm, but is considerably smaller in diameter. This can get you 2-3 more rounds in your double-stack pistol. As a gun designer, I like the 51,000 PSI chamber pressure because it means that FINALLY we're getting past the old, anemic pressures that were common in firearms 100+ years ago. I know my buddy, @Tobias_Arms likes the 30SC, but what about the rest of the gunners here? If you hate it, why? Is it just the price?
Here we see a radical change in frag performance between 2m (50 penetrations) and 5m (5 pen).
The best argument in favor of 25-30mm grenades over 40mm is that their greater accuracy will offset their reduced payloads.
They may have less frag, but by going off closer to the target they will end up putting more fragments into the enemy due to this distance-to-frags effect.
The issue with this theory is that grenade launchers are often being fired against imprecisely located targets (guys in trenches and behind walls) where misses may well be beyond the 2-3m zone.
At 4-5m off target, a 40mm may have some marginal effectiveness, whereas a 25-30mm might be essentially useless in terms of fragmentation hit probability.
It will be interesting to see what the results of the PGS program show, and whether they adequately test against imprecisely located targets vs just shooting at known point targets.
Very cool DIY rifle.
It looks like you could incorporate a 'Constant Recoil' spring runout system, where the BCG never strikes the rear of the receiver, but is steadily decelerated by the spring until it stops on its own, eliminating bolt impact shock. Ideal for FRT.
