thinking about how my parents have so much brand recognition for things I’ve spent most of my life not thinking about. Dad said that Hamilton Beach was a good brand of blender. Mom said the Corelle tableware I chose is practically indestructible. to me, these names mean nothing.

or perhaps brand recognition was more important in the world they grew up in? without a phone to research the absolute best brand of something to purchase a product, being able to see a brand and know “this product will be good” had much more importance?

I also could not care about the brand at all, go on Amazon, and buy some cheaper made in China knockoff that works great or well enough, and never have to learn or remember the name of the brand ever again. was this even possible to do before the internet?
