2026年9月11日（金）　 #マダライルカ　 昨日から丸一日コーヴへ留め置かれていたマダライルカの選別作業が午前6時に始まった。予報どおりに降る雨の中で。 今日来ていたトレーナーはドルフィン・リゾートの面々。 約40頭の群れだと昨日は推定されたが、もう少し多そうに見えた。複数の母子ペアも見受けられた。 群れの約半分ほどのグループから、いつも通りの手荒い作業で次々と選別候補のイルカたちがタープの下へ連れて行かれ、午前7時には、生け捕りにされた2頭が港の生け簀へ運ばれた。そして約20分後には更に2頭が同じく港の生け簀へ運ばれ、合計4頭が群れ家族から拐われた。 幸運にも途中から雨が激しくなったためだろうか、選別はそこで終了し、残ったイルカたちはすべてリリースされた。 マダライルカの捕獲枠は280頭。もし雨がひどくなっていなかったら、おそらく最後のグループまで選別され、もっと多くのイルカたちが連れ去られたに違いない。 🐬マダライルカという種の特定について🐬 今回の群れはマダライルカなのか、バンドウイルカなのではないか、と現地配信ライブ中から議論がある。彼らは姿形がとてもよく似ているので、たまたまクニト氏の体調不良で映像が少ないことと、天候の悪さによる暗さも判断を難しくした。 吻(ふん)の先端が白く、背びれから尾びれの間に薄いグレーの柄は入っているが、顔から口元の形がバンドウイルカのように見える。前半身のツートーンの柄はよく見えない。まるでマダライルカとバンドウイルカの雑種であるかのように、どちらにも見えることがある。だがダイバーらに保定されたイルカを見ると、バンドウイルカより明らかに小ぶりだ。 マダライルカの大きさは、アメリカ海洋大気庁 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) による1.8m-2.4m 、日本の国立科学博物館National Museum of Nature and Science,Tokyo (NMNS) によると1.6m-2.6m。 バンドウイルカの大きさは、アメリカ海洋大気庁によると1.8m-4.0m、日本の国立科学博物館によると2.2m-3.0m。 「リリース時があれほど大雨でなかったら、ジャンプした彼らの姿の詳細を動画で確認できたかもしれない」とクニト氏は言った。 種や数などの捕獲内容については関係当局で確認を取ることができないため、専門家のご意見を知らせていただけると非常にありがたいです。 #Taiji #DolphinDriveHunting #太地 #イルカ追い込み猟 #StopTaiji #BoycottJapan #ShameOnJapan #ShameOnWakayama #EndDolphinDriveHunting #SayNoToTheDolphinShows #EndDolphinCaptivity #CaptivityKills #EmptyTheTanks #食文化は詭弁 #野生イルカ獲って金儲け #イルカショーは残酷 #水族館は監獄 #KeepThemWild #dolphin #whale 📷📹: @KunitoSeko

September 11, 2026 Day-11 🟢Green Cove 🐬🟢 #PantropicalSpottedDolphin 〈4 captives〉 At 6 a.m., the selection process for the pod of Pantropical spotted dolphins, held at the Cove for a full day since yesterday, began in the rain that had fallen as forecast. The trainers who came today were from Dolphin Resort. Yesterday, the pod was estimated approximately 40 dolphins, but it looked like there were a few more than that. Several mother-and-calf pairs were also seen. From a group about half the size of the pod, dolphins selected for capture were taken one after another under the tarps using the usual rough-and-tumble methods, 2 captives were taken to the harbor pen at 7 a.m. About 20 minutes later, 2 more were taken to the harbor pen, bringing the total to 4 dolphins taken from their family. Perhaps because the rain fortunately began to fall harder partway through, the selection process ended there, and all the remaining dolphins were released. The catch quota for Pantropical spotted dolphins is 280. If the rain hadn’t gotten heavier, they would likely have continued the selection process through the last group, and many more dolphins would surely have been taken away. 🐬Identifying the Spotted Dolphin Species🐬 During the livestream from the Cove, there was debate over whether this pod consisted of Pantropical spotted dolphins or Bottlenose dolphins. Since they look very similar, the limited footage— due to Kunito’s illness— and the dim lighting caused by poor weather made it difficult to determine. The tips of their beaks are white, and there are pale gray patterns between their dorsal fins and tail fins, while the shape of their faces and mouths resembles that of Bottlenose dolphins. The two-tone pattern on the front half of their bodies is not clearly visible. At times, it looks like it could be either Pantopical spotted dolphins or Bottlenose dolphins ー almost as if it were a hybrid of the two. However, when viewed while being held by divers, the dolphin is clearly smaller than Bottlenose dolphins. According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Pantropical spotted dolphin measures 1.8 m to 2.4 m, while the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo (NMNS) lists its range as 1.6 m to 2.6 m. The size of the Bottlenose dolphin ranges from 1.8 m to 4.0 m according to the NOAA, and from 2.2 m to 3.0 m according to the NMNS. If it hadn’t been raining so heavily at the time of their release, we might have been able to see detailed footage of them jumping in the video, Kunito said.
