India needs about 18 to 20 lakh senior housing units right now. Organised supply is about 21,000.
India has nearly 15 crore elderly, heading to over 32 crore by 2050. Only 18% of seniors have health insurance, and over 78% have no pension. Only 18 medical colleges have a full geriatric department.
If you're planning for your parents or yourself, these numbers say the system won't be ready in time. If you're building a business, this is one of the biggest gaps I've written about.

I don't know who else to tell this to, so I am going to tell my story here.
Every day is a struggle for a young business, but the last few months have been harder than usual.
We are a small Indian company. For more than ten years we have been building a homegrown brand in a product category dominated by big foreign players.
There are almost no Indian names in this space. We set out to be one.
We started in 2014. Over the years we began making parts in India instead of just importing, and we started selling in the US, Dubai, Nepal, Malaysia and South Africa.
We showed up at global trade fairs to represent an Indian brand on the world stage.
In 2023 we changed the import code we use for our product. We did not do this quietly. Every shipment was declared. Nothing was hidden. We didn't invent our approach.
We followed written professional advice and the way this product is treated in markets around the world.
And now we are facing a government demand running into tens of crores in duty recovery and penalties, plus personal penalties on the founders and even on an employee.
For a company our size, this is not a fine we can pay and move on from. This ends us.
We have not run from any of this. I am not built like that. It is not how I was raised. We have written to the authorities, met officials in person, and we have now filed a writ in the High Court.
All we are asking for is a fair treatment.
I set out to build in India and sell to the world. I am asking only that the system back honest founders trying to compete globally, instead of breaking them.
The process is the process, and it exists for a reason. But process should not feel like punishment.
From where I am standing today, it does.

Why is Frozen Dessert filled with Sugar, Palm Oil, Additives, Color & Chemicals allowed to be sold in India under Prominent Brands? In Other Countries, Real Ice Cream is Sold. The Quality of the Product is also better from the same Brand in other Countries. The same applies to chocolates as well.
Isn't Citizens Health your Concern? Why are sub standard products sold in our country? Why aren't you banning Unhealthy Products?
We need an answer. Request my audience to amplify this unless some action is taken.

Why does it feel that everyone's here to take advantage of an unaware customer?
When you place an order above a minimum value on @ZeptoNow , you become eligible for a free delivery.
But here is the trick...
You are still billed for delivery.
Yes, delivery fee gets added to your total bill amount automatically.
You are then shown a PAY button to pay the total amount.
Now, if you specifically happen to scroll down to the bill amount, click on bill breakup, you will see Delivery Fees still applied, and then you see a button which you can click to "Apply" for Free Delivery. Once you click on this button, the delivery fee becomes zero.
For someone in a hurry of 10 min delivery, especially those who are unaware of this or are new to the system, it's an obvious miss.
Why does a customer need to apply for a free delivery when it is already eligible for the same?

Hello, Vidit. I am not a fan of chess, but you are an important person for our country and I did not mean to offend your family. I am sure they are good people. I was stating plain facts from a professional standpoint and I do not mince my words. You may call that ego or whatever, to console yourself, no problem.
Your statement on Doctors Day claiming an Ayurveda practitioner, Homeopath, Cosmetologist and a Physiotherapist were doctors is wrong and I stand by my words. Doctors' Day in India marks both the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, one of India's most revered physicians and a key figure in shaping the healthcare system.
Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Cosmetology or Physiotherapy are not realistic clinical medicine or and their practitioners are not clinical physicians. Physiotherapy is a legit branch of healthcare (adjunct to clinical medicine), but the rest are just plain sham - especially Homeopathy, which is also known as N*zi Medicine because H*tler tried to integrate it with conventional medicine at the time.
You got all worked up and started personally attacking me because you were ignorant of this fact. I do not need to keep an ego towards a chess GM or his family. You don't make me insecure and your family is of no concern to me from a professional standpoint.
But what you claim them to be - has major public health consequence, because someone of your stature, being ignorant about science and health affects public perception of realistic healthcare and pseudoscientific practices.
Your statements normalize pseudoscience and primitive therapies as healthcare practices when they are not. They are alternative medicine. And alternative medicine is medicine that is not proven to work. Just like there is no alternative chemistry, alternative physics or alternative mathematics, alternative medicine is also not medicine. And its practitioners are not doctors.
I am a certified internist with a doctorate in hepatology and liver transplant medicine with 260 peer reviewed scientific publications, 4400 citations and h-index of 30 (just for your information). You don't know me and how useful I am to my patients and their families. I suggest you do a bit of homework before throwing such childish tantrums.
I am staying in my lane and always have. Calling out medical misinformation is what I do apart from being a full-time doctor. I suggest you stay in your lane and discuss more on chess. Sorry for the checkmate. And for a change, talk about chess and try being useful. All the best for your future matches.
