A 16-year-old Dalit student named Akilan in Coimbatore died by suicide after classmates kept hitting him with caste-based insults. It started when a teacher asked the class who eats beef & he raised his hand. The principal did nothing even after the family complained.
I'm told the Police have booked the teacher, principal, and two students, but these cases need real follow-through so schools stop brushing off caste discrimination.

This occurred in Vivek Ramaswamy’s Tamil Nadu, where be bragged in his book about spending his summers and having a lower caste servant who couldn’t use the front door. Vivek is Tamil Brahmin. In an alternate universe, a teacher asked his class who all ate beef. That child, raised with values of honesty, raised his hand. Thereon, he was asked his caste name and shamed by the teachers and students. The principal did nothing. In just less than a month, he is pushed to commit suicide.
Let's go back to how Deepika Padukone is creating waves by naming her daughter with not just one but two caste names.
