Introducing GamePlan Stats Vision Lab 👁️🧪
We’re building what we believe will be a first-of-its-kind visual analytics system for rugby league. Vision Lab turns match footage into structured data, identifying and tracking individual players, the ball and ball carrier, field position and movement across the pitch in real time.
But tracking is only the beginning. Vision Lab is being developed to understand attacking shapes, defensive structures, spacing, player tendencies, strengths, weaknesses and patterns of play, providing context traditional statistics simply can’t capture. The goal is to understand not only what happened, but how and why it happened.
We haven’t seen this level of computer-vision analysis brought together specifically for rugby league analytics before. If we pull off everything we’re building, Vision Lab will be the first of its kind and a genuine step forward for how rugby league performance can be analysed.
