This guy utterly dismantles the populist politics of Reform and Restore in 90 seconds. It’s actually quite beautiful.
Take decades of deep-rooted problems in Britain and convince people that a relatively tiny proportion of the population is responsible for all of them. Housing, the NHS, crime. Blame illegal migrants for everything.
Suddenly, you don’t need credible solutions to the housing crisis, NHS waiting lists or crime. You just need increasingly extreme policies on immigration.
And by the time people realise you never had meaningful answers to the vast majority of Britain’s problems, you’re already in power, handing out tax cuts to your donors.

Bowie and the Tom Robinson Band made me question homophobia, hanging out at reggae gigs helped me reject my parents' racism, hearing The Clash drew me towards leftwing politics. And now now Laura Kuenssberg is questioning whether musicians should take political stances?

In 2013 I wrote a book called Seven Myths about Education.
What is the most persistent myth, the one that is hardest to kill, and the one that has biggest implications outside education?
Transferable skills.
People think that you can teach things like critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, etc. But you can't.
But the idea is so persistent not just in schools but in universities, the corporate world and the British civil service.
Over the next few weeks, I will have a series of articles about it on my Substack. You can read the intro here and listen to me talking about it tomorrow on the @EconTalker podcast.

I don't get the 'X player deserves court time' discourse. This was a Bronze Medal Game. Every Australian was winning their position. Why would you make changes unless they're going to be seamless (eg, Horjus for Watson) #CWGNetball

🗣️ Marc Cucurella:
“I’d never seen this side of Lionel Messi until this World Cup. We always spoke highly of him as someone who was respectful and humble, but this tournament completely changed my opinion of him.
When he reported me to the referee because I slightly touched my mouth, I was shocked. I never expected a player like him to do that.
Throughout the World Cup, I saw him telling referees to book players who tackled him. People call him humble, but I don’t see it that way. Watching everything that happened over the last two World Cups made me question the legacy he’s built.
Cristiano Ronaldo has always been honest about who he is, confident, outspoken, and never pretending to be someone else. I’d choose Ronaldo over Messi any day because I’ve played against both and know what they’re really like.”
If my boys grow up to be like Jo and Kush from Race Across the World we will have done something right. They’re a brilliant antidote to Tate-style toxic masculinity: bright, kind, compassionate, emotionally intelligent, grounded, and culturally aware. PROPER role models for boys.

To be honest, the behaviour of the press pack outside Downing Street is a national embarrassment, and has been for a long time. Yelling out questions aggressively like a bunch of drunk pub bores.
Grow up and be actual journalists.

Labour didn’t lose council seats because of @Keir_Starmer’s leadership…
They lost seats because there’s a pernicious fascist cancer infecting public discourse and giving simplistic solutions to people that would never normally vote in local elections
Yeah come on @BBCLookNorth you have repeated the same incorrect headline about @LUFC three times now. 2010 we won at Old Trafford.

Hard to believe it’s taken until 2026 for this kind of reform to land, that says a lot about where the game’s been.
The DFB had a similar “breakthrough” a few years back when they finally embraced Horst Wein’s 4-goal mini games for development.
Football is painfully slow to separate what works from what doesn’t. Billions go into coach education, only to arrive, eventually, at a basic truth: the simplest solutions are usually the best.
Small-sided 3v3 matches and fewer 11v11 games are at the heart of radical changes planned for youngsters playing grassroots football in England from next season.
The new system aims to give children a more enjoyable playing experience. @EnglandFootball

I was on live radio about the Norway sport model.
Host asked: "What's the ONE thing you'd change about sport?"
My answer: Get rid of ALL junior rep teams, elite academies and "high performance programs" for kids under 14.
They hurt participation. They hurt elite development. 50 years of research proves it.
So what are they for? So 10-year-olds can wear a blazer?
What would YOU change?
