That anyone ever thought that this was good interface design, much less that it’s developed a weird cult following on here will never cease to both amaze and depress me.

Why ?????
iOS 27.2 Beta 4 redesigns the Apple Music app icon.

It looks like a big Apple watch!
You can tap your iPhone to your HomeView to continue where you left off

I have to say - not a fan of what they did with Safari in Golden Gate. The semi-transparent toolbar is very distracting, and I don't like the pill-shaped tabs. I could accept the tabs if they just let you reduce the toolbar transparency (and no - the liquid glass slider makes no difference). Would be quite a simple fix too. 🤷

Writing an article on the design of the Classic Mac OS (Systems 7 and 9), and thought I might as well write it on the older system - so writing it in Claris Works on an emulated System 7.6 !!!

I actually enjoyed The Matchbox movie. I was expecting it to be terrible but it was quite entertaining. I mean the connection to the brand was pretty tenuous but apart from that.

What Apple things a "Pro" app should look like in the Liquid Glass age: (Pixelmator Pro)

to be fair, it's marginally less bad if you set the Liquid Glass slider to opaque, but for a professional app this is insane. Cue people saying it's amazing looking in 3..2..

The next movie, named "Rogue Agent", is going to have a very different meaning than it would have in the past!

My somewhat belated review of iPadOS 27 is now up on my Medium blog, and I talk about why it's still a bit of a mess. I also ask some bigger questions about the direction of the iPad in general!

I've posted my full review of macOS Golden Gate from a Designer's point of view. It's mostly about the design, and it's a bit long, but I tried to be as comprehensive and fair as possible!
