🧵We lost a beloved Korbel community member today. For all of us @josefkorbel, @madeleine was an inspiration. In many ways she embodied the best of America – daughter of a refugee, who rose to become the first female Secretary of State.

That essay – as all her writings do – display her remarkable intellect, her extraordinary wealth of experience and her deep humanity. Next week, when we are together again, let us take time as a community to share our memories and reflections about Madeleine and her legacy.

We will be planning a special tribute to her at the Korbel Honors on April 27. We also extend our deepest sympathies to her brother, John Korbel, sister Kathy Silva, and her daughters.

Real courage is standing up for our #democracy when there is no political gain. @MittRomney is correct, "Honor attaches to @RepLizCheney and @AdamKinzinger for seeking truth even when doing so comes at great personal cost." #DDS2022 #DefendDemocracy nyti.ms/3gwFggW
