Captain Marvel vs Supergirl is a way more interesting comparison than people give it credit for.
Both are insanely powerful Kryptonian/energy-based cosmic heroes, but what really separates them isn't just their powers, it's how their stories use that power.
Captain Marvel is one of Earth's biggest cosmic heavy-hitters in the MCU, while Supergirl has historically been positioned as one of Krypton's most powerful survivors and an important part of Superman's mythology.
So when you actually compare their feats, abilities, speed, durability and experience, the debate gets a lot less straightforward than “they're both Superman-level characters.”

One of my favorite things about Eddie is watching the gradual change.
At the beginning, he's basically trying to understand what his family has gotten him into.
Then you slowly realize he's not just surviving this world anymore.
He's getting comfortable in it.
That transition was so subtle you almost don't notice it happening.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN KARA SNAPS?
We've seen Superman get angry before, but I don't think people realize how different that situation could be with Kara.
Clark spent his entire life learning restraint.
Kara grew up with a completely different experience.
She's more impulsive, she's more emotionally driven, and she has a lot of anger underneath everything.
So I'm genuinely curious…
What happens when someone finally pushes Supergirl far enough that she stops holding back?
Because I don't think that scene is going to look anything like a Superman fight.
This is the part of Kara's character I want explored the most.
Clark lost his home before he was old enough to really understand it.
Kara remembers exactly what she lost.
That's a completely different kind of pain.
One thing about Supergirl that I really hope the movie doesn't gloss over is the fact that Kara actually remembers Krypton.
Clark knows Krypton mostly through stories, recordings and what his parents told him.
Kara actually lived there.
She remembers the people. The culture. Her life before everything disappeared.
So when she looks at Earth, she isn't just looking at her new home.
She's constantly comparing it to the world she lost.
I feel like that alone should make Kara's relationship with Earth completely different from Superman's.
If every Supergirl conversation eventually becomes a Superman conversation, we're doing something wrong.
Kara deserves her own mythology.
Here's my unpopular opinion:
Supergirl doesn't need Superman to succeed.
If Kara becomes one of the biggest characters in the new DCU, I'd actually prefer DC to keep Clark mostly out of her stories.
Let her build her own villains.
Her own relationships.
Her own identity.
Supergirl should stop being treated like Superman's side character.
If Supergirl gets a better movie than Superman did, DC fans are going to be unbearable. 😭
And honestly?
It wouldn't even surprise me.
Kara has a completely different story, Lobo is involved, and the DCU is finally letting her exist outside Superman's shadow.

Most of you praising the new Supergirl movie did not care to watch this movie at the movie theaters earlier this year when it came out. This movie had zero interest from people to watch it when it mattered but all of a sudden now when the movie came out on HBO MAX people suddenly "care" about it but none of you cared to spend actual money on it when the movie needed it the most.
