People’s recent reaction to Gavin Newsom is wild. First, they seem to not grasp him trolling Trump and Republicans, and truthfully, that’s just sad for them. Then, they act like Newsom invented every problem in California. Grocery prices? That’s global inflation and corporate price gouging. Electricity bills? Mostly because they are stuck cleaning up decades of PG&E mismanagement. (And Hawaii has the highest electricity prices, just an fyi) Gas taxes? Higher, sure… but so is the bill for wildfires, drought, and rebuilding roads. Homelessness? Every governor for the last 40 years kicked that can, and now it’s a crisis nationwide. Prop 36? Republicans scream about crime while refusing to fund the housing and mental health services that actually cut crime. And about Texas, Newsom hammering Abbott isn’t just “obsession.” Fighting their gerrymandering helps California, too, because if Republicans rig House seats in Texas, it tips Congress against CA’s interests. He’s protecting everyone’s representation. So, if pointing out that California is the 5th largest economy in the world while Abbott can’t even keep the lights on is “unhinged”… maybe the bar is just really low.
