UConn was super happy to host New England Security Day 2024 last Friday. For those that weren't able to make it we've uploaded all the videos from our 15 talks youtube.com/playlist?list=PL… via @YouTube
We have a preliminary program for New England Security Day with 15 talks and 9 posters. Talks across the spectrum: cryptography, systems, ML, usability, privacy and more. Come visit @UConn on March 15: cacc.engr.uconn.edu/nesd2024…
UConn will host the New England Security Day after a three year hiatus. We're accepting short submissions to put together a talk and poster program. This event helps you meet people in the area and is a great way to see what other research is out there: cacc.engr.uconn.edu/nesd2024…
The @UConn Voter Center has been working to ensure fair and safe elections for 20 years. This year CT passed a new voting rights act and the Center will be providing tools to the Secretary of State to assess voting practices throughout the state. jobs.hr.uconn.edu/en-us/job/…
This job has a lot of flexibility and opportunity for interdisciplinary work. Deciding what we're measuring is a hard research question, we'll be building software usable by non-experts including lawyers. In addition, you'll contribute to securing CT elections.

We're announcing a new class of risk-limiting audits called adaptive comparison risk-limiting audits. We show that a cast vote record table can be generated adaptively (and adversarially) without affecting the risk of an RLA. @voting_works @UConn_CSE @mspecter
Our results are going to be presented at @IEEESSP this year. This was a different and exciting project for us, working with registrars and conducting pilot deployments. This led to new analyses and auditors.
Our analysis focuses on ballot comparison audits but we also show an adaptive version of group comparison audits which is a hybrid between a ballot and batch comparison audit. Full paper is here: arxiv.org/pdf/2202.02607.pdf

I know this is kind of trite but I'm incredibly proud of this paper. It continues a line of research Peter and I started in our ACNS 2020 paper showing how to build a standard model digital locker (maps a correct password to a key) that prevents tampering by any polynomial. 1/5
#ePrint Nonmalleable Digital Lockers and Robust Fuzzy Extractors in the Plain Model: D Apon, C Cachet, P Fenteany, B Fuller, FH Liu ia.cr/2022/1108
As long as preventing polynomial tampering on the point suffices for the application. We think that there are more applications of this object and that it should allow one to push CRS constructions to the standard model. 4/5
Great work with
@ynaetnefretep, Chloe Cachet,
Feng-Hao Liu, and Dan Apon. 5/5
