A simple guide to understanding the average American:
1. He is a free market capitalist but is highly distrustful of wealthy elites and big business
2. He is patriotic and is either Christian or influenced by its values but hates being told how to live his life
3. He believes people should be free to live their lives how they want to but hates being lectured that he needs to be approving or affirming of how other people chose to life
4. He likes welfare programs but hates ones that are perceived as taking money from people who work and giving it to people who don’t
5. He supports government programs that help make the cost of living more affordable but hates having his taxes raised to pay for it.
6. He wants the government to be there to help him when he’s down on his luck but also wants it to stay out of his way when things are going well
The most successful American politicians have understood these instincts and governed and campaigned accordingly. It’s part of why FDR and Reagan became transformative presidents, and why Clinton and Obama left office personally popular. I’d also argue that the failure to understand these points are why Dems lost in 2016 and 2024 as well as why the GOP underperformed in 2022.

I will keep repeating this for as long as people in politics keep ignoring it (forever)
Don't accept scumbags and cranks into your tent. Don't nominate them, don't hang out with them, don't rely on them. It will always come back to bite you.
(NYP) Zohran Mamdani’s team “pissed” over Darializa Avila Chevalier’s calls for Tisch to be canned: “Direct undermining of Mamdani”

I never understood why some on Lib ET thought this district was flipping. I never moved it out of Likely R.
You just can’t overcome Yavapai County in that seat. Unless Pinal is gonna start rapidly shifting left that seat is a Red seat, even if Crane is terrible
If Talarico wins the Texas Senate election, I hope he and Democrats realize that it will be a rejection of Ken Paxton and not Texas voters embracing progressive politics.
John Cornyn would have won this election in a walk.

Talarcio story right up there with "the Iran War will be over in a week" and "Joe Biden is sharp as a tack" for surfacing the most gullible people in the Milky Way galaxy.

Some post-libs today like this quote by John Adams: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Fair enough. Well, here's another: "Was there ever a Clergy, that have gained, by their Natural Ascendancy over private Consciences, any important Power in the State, that did not restlessly aspire by every Art, by Flattery and Intrigues, by Bribery and Corruption, by wresting from the People the Means of Knowledge, and by inspiring misterious and awful apprehensions of themselves by Promises of Heaven and by Threats of Damnation, to establish themselves in oppulence, Indolence and Magnificence, at the Expence of the Toil, and Industry, the Limbs, the Liberties and Lives of all the rest of Mankind."

James Talarico has terrible policies but he can only implement them if the GOP does INCREDIBLY poorly this election AND the next since for at least two years there would be a presidential veto.
Ken Paxton, on the other hand, is the most corrupt person in politics. His election would stain the soul of the GOP to the point that I don’t see recovery. Rewarding the lunacy that got us him as a nominee is feeding a backwards cycle that views immorality as proof of electability and decency as weakness.
If the GOP continues down the path of conspiracy theory, delusion, lies, cruelty, and confusing edginess and shit posting for conservatism then I predict the party will cease to exist as a viable political party within 20 years. That future scares me FAR more than Talarico winning 1 out of 100 senate seats—if the GOP dies then there is nothing standing in the way of the cultural and political dominance of the left.
Paxton is the proverbial straw and we see this because even his supporters don’t bother to deny his corruption when it’s brought up, they just try to scare you by saying that Talarico will make your kid trans and vegan.

You know it's 1 vs. 1, right? Do you truly believe that Paxton is worse than Talarico? We will have a new senator come January. I would much prefer it be someone who fights for conservative principals over a radical apostate.

Wow, it's almost like these groups shift from election to election, and nothing is actually permanent in American politics! 🤔

A tragic day for Elon Musk. Thousands of his most loyal reply guys went offline at once. 💔
So Talarico was at a music festival on the 9th and at a concert on the 10th yet was also discharged from a mental health facility a thousand miles away on the evening of the 10th per your phone call. Do you not realize you just completely undermined yourself

How stupid do you have to be to believe a hospital would confirm anything to some random idiot?
🚨 BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Ohio mental hospital CONFIRMS James Talarico was discharged from the facility earlier this week
The “flu” thing was a BIG FAT LIE
Following reporting by @SaraGonzalesTX and @CarolineWren, a hospital employee told @RheinAmacher and I that Talarico had in fact been a patient at the Lindner Center of Hope near Cincinnati, Ohio, which specializes in around-the-clock mental health treatment.
While I sympathize with those dealing with mental health crises, this man is CLEARLY not suited to become a US Senator representing over 30 MILLION TEXANS.
The job doesn’t get easier after being elected — it only gets MORE stressful.
And Talarico clearly can’t handle it.
I pray he gets the help he needs, but Texans need a real representative they can rely on.

Lindner Healing Center has refuted this
They have made a statement that James Talarico has never received treatment at Lindner Healing Center x.com/lindnerctrhope…
Since it keeps on coming up here in Arizona, here are my thoughts on school choice. I strongly support our system of public school open enrollment and vouchers. My issue is with universal school vouchers. The people most benefiting from it are people who were already sending their kids to private or charter schools and it’s become ridden with waste and fraud. I also take issue with how vouchers can be used to attend schools whose curriculums don’t meet standards for public schools and whose professional certification requirements also don’t meet public school standards. So in essence, my stance is to keep open enrollment and reform vouchers so that they are means tested and can only be used at private or charter schools whose curriculum standards and professional certifications meet public school standards

Between this and the ICJ, the United States under Trump is clearly no friend to Western democracies.
Only appropriate response as far as I’m concerned is to vote straight blue all the way down the ballot
Not a Dem but no one made your loudest and most active supporters take up insane positions like declaring Mamdani guilty of genocide
If France is neoliberal, than North Korea is libertarian
Is France signalling the end of neoliberalism? As a matter of fact, people will only stand for abuse from a financial system designed to oppress them for so long. France and maybe Spain seem to be indicating they've had enough. youtu.be/CpRl1ajsj-k?si=oidI…

France is not neoliberal. It has government spending of ~57% of GDP (among the highest in the OECD) and a tax-to-GDP ratio of 43.5% (2nd highest). The Heritage Index of Economic Freedom ranks it 65th worldwide, with a near-zero score on government spending.

I have it on very good authority that Talarico is out banging all of Ken Paxton’s mistresses with the hopes of gaining their endorsement. My understanding is he wants to have them at his next rally where they’ll publicly endorse him because he performs better than Ken in every way
I have received unverified information on James Talarico's whereabouts. If true, it will END his campaign.
I am asking anyone who can verify where James Talarico has been to email me with confirmation. YOU WILL STAY TOTALLY ANONYMOUS.
