Music video made using Hedron, software I've been working on for 10 years with @polyopuk. Written in JS, it lets you compose and control #threejs scenes using inputs such as audio and MIDI. Still wild to me that this is essentially just a fancy web page! youtube.com/watch?v=61lHZbaz…

Why a video and no live WebGL version? The sequencing was done externally using MIDI. We designed Hedron for live shows, but now working on a new version which will have timeline functionality so you'll be able to experience things like this on a web page. github.com/nudibranchrecords…

On Friday, we’re dropping our new single on @NudibranchMusic acid-electro banger “Elektrop” You may have heard it in our live shows, but now it’s finally getting a proper release — complete with the trippy visuals we created using our own software, Hedron – at London, England

What's interesting here is that a computer did the fun, creative job of drawing Kermit in various scenarios, and then a human did the boring, labor-intensive job of creating shortcuts with custom thumbnails to open all of their favorite apps. xitter.cf/dlberes/status/1830719…
People will be like, “generative AI has no practical use case,” but I did just use it to replace every app icon on my home screen with images of Kermit, soooo

For me, there is value in the process. I enjoy spending time learning, creating, crafting. The moment the tools take that part away, the joy is gone.
Value doesn't come from the effort you put in. I'm sorry. It doesn't. It doesn't come from struggle, or your sweat, or your tears. It doesn't come from your experiences. It doesn't come from how many hours you worked at it or how many years you took to learn to do it. Those things may help you to put a price tag on what you need to compensate you - but that's not the same thing at all. You can dig holes and fill them in again all day long, but all that effort isn't going to result in anything valuable. It comes purely and only from the demand anyone else has for it, which is often just something very subjective and irrational which you have no control over. Someone dying in a desert values that bottle of water far more than the Mona Lisa. The labour theory of value as an argument for "real art" is as wrong as it is for anything else. Meaning is individual, personal, relative and subjective. Someone using AI as part of their workflow to produce something successful, instead of some other tool, has no bearing on the output People can produce slop with pen & paper, and other people will produce art with AI. The fact that the artist was able to possibly work faster or iterate on concepts faster has no bearing on their aesthetics and taste, which is what creates something the demand for their work. If people are producing crap with it, I doubt they'd have done any better using any other medium

Imagine putting some drawings online and later they appear as Clip Art in the next version of Microsoft Word. Big tech is now incorporating other people's work into their AI software as if that's totally ok.

Labour stands to win as many as 70% of seats with just 41% of votes… While the Tories could win just 10% of seats despite clinching 20% of votes… and Reform could win 0 seats with 16% of votes That’s the extraordinary potential ‘distortion’ we could see at UK election, acc to @ft analysis of polls by @jburnmurdoch More on latest Political Fix podcast - and in this brilliant article by John on.ft.com/4ePoIhk

Seemingly simple things can take a lot of extra work when making games for the #NES. I wanted the snake in this game to be able to overlap itself (think powerups, different game modes, etc). Here is the finished effect. Looks simple enough, right?

My solution? Make use of the hardware! With the #NES you have 2 screens worth of tiles in memory, usually used for scrolling levels. Here, the second screen is a lookup table, storing the number of overlaps for any one tile. If there is an overlap, don't delete the block!

To the NES devs out there: What do you think of my solution to use the other name table as a lookup? Is it over engineered? Ever done anything like that before? @pikuma @Wallmasterr

Having a blast programming for the #NES! As someone who's mostly worked with high level languages, it's great fun to be in a completely different headspace. It sometimes really does feel like time travel when solving problems in assembly.

Once again thanks to @pikuma for his invaluable NES development course. It has been of great use to dip in and out of it as I need to learn new things (or go back and refresh my understanding of something!)

Must thank @pikuma for his excellent NES course. I'm only half way through and already capable of making fun things by myself.

!!!!!!!!!!!!! @JNJNews, THANK YOU for choosing #PatientsNotPatents. Takes real guts to live up to your credo. Generic bedaquiline WILL BE AVAILABLE in almost every country with a high tuberculosis burden. I am so happy and grateful to the Stop TB Partnership, J&J, and especially the activists around the world who are standing up for TB patients. So much more work to do, but WHAT WONDERFUL NEWS TO WAKE UP TO.

The ratio on this one gonna be astronomical #PatientsNotPatents
It is false to suggest—as some recently have—that our patents are being used to prevent access to SIRTURO® (bedaquiline), our medicine for MDR-TB. In fact, we have already entered into a collaboration with the Stop TB Partnership’s Global Drug Facility (“GDF”)—the largest procurer of TB medicines—which enables them to invite potential generic suppliers and purchase generic versions of SIRTURO® 100mg. On April 5, during a World Health Organization meeting, the GDF shared its intent to launch a tender for generic versions of SIRTURO® 100mg in the third quarter of 2023: social.jnj.com/3XSgjRZ In addition, we have shipped more than 660,000 courses of SIRTURO® to 159 countries since launch. Our patents made this possible, enabling us to assist countries to scale-up their use of our medicine responsibly and sustainably and invest in multiple, critical, anti-TB efforts. For instance, in the face of rising drug resistance, we support stewardship efforts that ensure MDR-TB patients can benefit from our medicine today and in the future. Unfortunately, the most significant barrier to treatment access for patients today is the fact that millions of patients with TB go undiagnosed every year. This is a challenge that we have invested significant resources to overcome and must all get behind if we are to achieve the global goal of ending TB.

J&J continue to limit a lower pricing of $1,200 for 20 months to the Global Drug Facility. Only South Africa has been granted access to this pricing outside the GDF. Researchers suggest that Bedaquiline could still be sold at profit for as little as 25 cents per day. msfaccess.org/jj-can-you-hea…
