More than a decade ago, Elder Uchtdorf stood at the pulpit in general conference and gave the Church one of its most quoted lines: doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith. Around that line he built something gentle. Questions are natural, he said. Nearly every member wrestles at some point. Faith can still grow in ground full of doubt, and there is room in the Church for the one who is struggling. But is doubt truly okay? Christianity, in its essence, is one of the most radical religions ever to appear on the earth. We know it is radical because of how the first Christians lived. They went to the lions willingly, when a pinch of incense to an idol would have set them free. When plague swept the empire, pagan families pushed their own sick into the streets and fled. The Christians stayed. They nursed the dying, caught the sickness from the very people they were holding, and died beside them. They gave their entire existence for what they believed. Those people did not have doubt. You do not walk toward a lion with your options open. The idea that doubt is okay did not come from them. It comes from us. Religious doubt is a postmodern, secular habit of mind: hold everything loosely, commit to nothing fully, and go with the flow. James named it long before we did. He that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. Going with the flow works while the water is calm. Faith is not measured in calm water. Sooner or later the world falls out from under your feet. Life hits you hard. A family member is dying of cancer. Something awful happens in your own life that you never saw coming and cannot undo. In that hour there is no current to drift with. There is only what you are actually standing on. If what you are standing on is doubt, the floor collapses beneath you. Doubt is an interesting thing to discuss in a classroom. It is a terrible thing to stand on at a graveside. I am not saying a believer never meets doubt. We all will, somewhere along the road. Thomas doubted, and the scriptures do not hide it. But the Lord met that doubt with open wounds and a command: Be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas did not stay where he was. He said, My Lord and my God, and tradition states he went all the way to India to a martyr's death. Doubt can be a moment. It cannot be a dwelling. At the end of the day you must have conviction. If you do not have conviction, Christianity is not for you. It is not going to work. And it is not only about you. Think of your children. They learn faith from you, and there is no hiding doubt from a child. None. Children do not read our arguments. They read our posture. Our loyalty. Our commitment. So yes, conviction matters. With Christianity it is a radical conviction. The question was never whether the doctrine seems reasonable or the ward feels warm. The question is whether I am willing to sacrifice everything for the church. Whether I will pick up my own cross in my own life. If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. That is the true meaning of Christianity.

I came across this today from Elder Renlund— this is quite the list of BLESSINGS!! We need to GET TO THE TEMPLE!! “As we participate in family history and temple work, we also lay claim to “HEALING” blessings PROMISED by prophets and apostles. These blessings are also breathtakingly amazing because of their scope, specificity, and consequence in mortality. This long list includes these blessings: •Increased understanding of the Savior and His atoning sacrifice; •Increased influence of the Holy Ghost to feel strength and direction for our own lives; •Increased faith, so that conversion to the Savior becomes deep and abiding; •Increased ability and motivation to learn and repent because of an understanding of who we are, where we come from, and a clearer vision of where we are going; •Increased refining, sanctifying, and moderating influences in our hearts; •Increased joy through an increased ability to feel the love of the Lord; •Increased family blessings, no matter our current, past, or future family situation or how imperfect our family tree may be; •Increased love and appreciation for ancestors and living relatives, so we no longer feel alone; •Increased power to discern that which needs healing and thus, with the Lord’s help, serve others; •Increased protection from temptations and the intensifying influence of the adversary; and •Increased assistance to mend troubled, broken, or anxious hearts and make the wounded whole. The blessings of the temple have a stunning capacity to HEAL. Temple blessings can heal HEARTS and LIVES and FAMILIES.” (April 2018 General Conference)

The evolution of THE #MOONWALK in 1930s. But Michael Jackson didn’t just perform it, he took it to another planet. He perfected the technique, added his signature style, and made the impossible look effortless. That’s the Michael Jackson legacy. 🕺✨

I think President Hinckley said it best when he stated: “Was there ever a man who truly loved a woman, or a woman who truly loved a man, who did not pray that their relationship might continue beyond the grave? Has a child ever been buried by parents who did not long for the assurance that their loved one would again be theirs in a world to come? Can anyone believing in eternal life doubt that the God of heaven would grant His sons and daughters that most precious attribute of life, the love that finds its most meaningful expression in family relationships? No, reason demands that the family relationship shall continue after death. The human heart longs for it, and the God of heaven has revealed a way whereby it may be secured. The sacred ordinances of the house of the Lord provide for it.”
Why is eternal marriage such a huge thing for Latter-Day Saints?

Você provavelmente já ouviu dizer: "Beba água, mesmo quando não estiver com sede." Hoje eu lhe digo: "Ore, mesmo quando você não estiver com vontade." Porque, assim como seu corpo precisa de água, sua alma precisa de Deus.

“The nearer a person approaches the Lord, a greater power will be manifested by the adversary to prevent the accomplishment of His purposes.” —Joseph Smith, Jr. If you’re doing your best to live God’s commandments, if you’re keeping your covenants and repenting and doing His will insofar as you understand it, but the heat in the furnace of affliction seems only to be rising, or the storms you navigate are only building into a maelstrom—take heart, weary traveler, and prepare to be amazed. You’re over the target, even if you can’t see it yet. The devil rages when you’re nearing a breakthrough, approaching a miracle, about to strike treasures of knowledge with the edge of your cracking shovel. It’s okay to cry out for mercy, but don’t despair. Angels are on the move for you. You will survive and your eyes will be opened. Don’t give up.

Jesus is the great hope of Isaiah. The Lord gathers and restores. I love the imagery of Isaiah 35:1, that a desert will rejoice and blossom. Yes, this prophecy may be fulfilled in the Saints' populating the Intermountain West, but I have also seen it fulfilled in the desert of my heart and the hearts of so many others who now rejoice and blossom because of Jesus Christ. "The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose."
