Voting in Vancouver’s municipal election this Saturday might feel a bit like taking a high school exam, with each voter asked to mark their ballot as many as 32 times.
If you also hit provincial advance voting tomorrow, you could hit Henrik Sedin's #33!

The Undertones (Lead Vocal Feargal Sharkey 1975-1983) -
"Teenage Kicks". (1978). In 1978, the band was on the verge of splitting up. The five young musicians from Derry, Northern Ireland, recorded this track in a single day as "proof of their existence" before giving it all up.

Born on this day in 1920, the incomparable Yusef Lateef. Seen here live in 1968 performing "The Shadow of Your Smile."
I thought this story arc was fascinating watching this 2 decades ago, as someone in and from Vancouver, a city that already had (for a while) a de facto “Hamsterdam” of its own.
Interesting to watch again in 2026 against the backdrop of this year’s Vancouver election discourse.
Filmed at Splashdown Park in Tsawwassen, BC!
“First Date” is from Blink-182’s 2001 album Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. Written with the band’s trademark mix of sweetness, nervousness and juvenile humor, the song captures the awkward excitement of a teenage first date. Released as a single, it became a major radio and MTV hit, its video with the band playing exaggerated ’70s-style characters only amplified the song’s goofy charm and popularity.

What is interesting about this Vancouver election is there are many mayoral candidates capable of getting out the vote. Everyone Ive asked cant predict the outcome. Im not even sure that the polls can reflect what is going on. Who is competing for what votes in what communities. Very competitive for sure. It also doesn't look like the provincial election stopped people from going to the polls. All the more reason to vote, vote, vote for the people you want to represent you.
