Regardless of your contract status that's an example as to how not to conduct yourself as a captain of any club let alone United.

With a valid reason too, you can't isolate Maguire and De ligt 1v1 in the backline with acres of space behind them.

The club don't seem to have the appetite to appoint their own qualified fitness coach so you've to rely on a coach who has them in his staff who are familiar with the periodization & model of the coach.

If he doesn't then you're left with 2 Antonio Conte who'll come with Costantino Coratti and Thiago Motta who'll respectively come with Simon Colinet who worked with him since his days coaching PSG u19.

Eddie Howe and Marcelo Bielsa can come regardless and work with existing staff and demand the utmost intensity.

The club wasn't well equipped interms of squad with the prominent ones in brink of a retirement yet the club didn't even smoothen the huge transition in aiding Moyes' debut pre season instead prioritizing "brand awareness". This change was well overdue. xitter.cf/i/status/2021298899109…
Hope INEOS won't replicate past mistakes of glazers' tenure & learn their lessons and stop forcing whoever is the head coach next season to have a lot of unnecessary friendlies with many flights in short time for pure commercial benefits detrimental to the team on the pitch.

To combat that certain coaches opt to apply increased intensity on pre agreed stages of game before retreating or resting with ball, followed with bold rotation policy to manage load. Which is ultimately dictated by game state + the quality of personnel & potential drop off. 4/5

So at this point in time the gaffer made the right call on the change in aporoach (bar timing of subs & certain selections) albeit late in which he might potentially pay for it at the expense of his job if results continue on current trajectory. 5/5

Last PC he also referred to last session being 1 of their best this season, which was a necessary step. Issue is the players aren't familiar & conditioned to the current tempo so they aren't expected to sustain it for long periods. Iraola faced same issues early doors. 2/5

Difference is Liverpool have been applying it since pre season and they're past the initial hurdles with players well accustomed to it, doing it mid season is better than not doing it entirely but it comes with it's own repercussions as players will start dropping like flies. 3/5

It's understandable why Carrick felt today was a fresh start on the premise of baseline commitment to increase intensity, compete for loose balls, prevent crosses in 2v2's, defending the box etc. He admitted they accepted their reality and did something about it. 1/5

I prefer not to engage on such piece's but this is a ridiculous claim & such a lazy analysis doing nothing but creating a narrative. By the supposed 'staff' for the thought process & Burt for the timing & phrase.
🚨 JUST IN: Manchester United’s style of play has not progressed under Michel Carrick since he took over permanently and that is a CONCERN within United. Staff have privately spoken about their DISAPPOINTMENT that so much of the team’s focus is on counter-attacking. #MUFC [@JBurtTelegraph]

Camacho as ex FB tends to drop in those areas when play is in opposite side vacating his spot before arriving late but vs a top side he actually was relishing contact sticking in the middle evading pressure, forcing turnover & arriving in scoring positions. Simply his best game.

That being said he should've actually scored more & there were some technical inconsistencies which he'll work to refine. But it's worth remembering this is a player who's played his whole life either as FB or CM facing play as opposed to back to goal.Decent profiling by Fletcher

I really regard him highly & think he has great ceiling but I'll try to refrain from further compliment until he commits to his 1st pro deal here just to make sure lol, he's a Catalan at the end of the day 😂

In Amad's absence not only are you missing 1v1's, associative play & work rate it also alters whole dynamic. •Bryan wide instead of up top who could've pinned & stretched backline. •Pocket players like Cunha receiving without space to turn. •Onus on central procession

The problem is; 1. You'd be utilizing the WF as outlets with a delayed release as progression came through center it forces indecision & disorganization in opp isolating wingers in space but it has impetus to shoot on sight with less coordination, placement & stride frequency.

2.When opponents prevent access through the middle our play becomes stale due to aforementioned factors like the limited quality in wide areas and the lack of supporting movements to aid it except Shaw.
