Bit dissapointed about falling so short of the Grand Final, but nevertheless, 5th-6th at my first World Cup will not go away from my mind for a long time. Thank you to all those cheering me on this journey, hope i at least delivered a good show 🫡 #WeAreNem

Our EWC campaign ends here. Insanely proud of @eLconn21 and his performances in both Birmingham and Paris, and happy to bring Club Points to @nmss_gg as well.
Time to chill on smaller comps and recharge batteries for 2027, the road to Paris was really exhausting but SO worth it.

The CS2 ecosystem has always been top-heavy, but for years, the great equaliser for Tier 2 organisations was the "Major carrot." Qualifying for a Major wasn't just a prestige milestone; it was a critical financial lifeline. However, as recent reports on the Cologne sticker revenues reveal, the light at the end of that tunnel is dimming rapidly.
For organisations operating outside the elite Tier 1 bubble, Valve's recent overhaul to the Major Shop and revenue distribution is nothing short of an economic earthquake.
Historically, simply making it to the Major guaranteed an organisation enough sticker capsule revenue to cover salaries, bootcamps, and travel for the year. Teams exiting early at previous events could comfortably clear upwards of $600,000 before player splits.
But under the new demand-based token pricing system and the strict performance-based revenue distribution introduced for IEM Cologne 2026, those numbers have plummeted. Some Tier 2 organisations are now reporting total payouts closer to $120,000. Compounding the issue is Valve's new mandate that the revenue pool be split 50/50 between the organisation and the players, effectively overriding the way many organisations structured their pre-existing contracts.
Without our sponsors like @shufflecom and @official_mrkt, it would be literally impossible to run a successful Tier 2 scene with the way player deals are currently structured. And frankly, that reliance is okay. Esports has always been built on the backs of endemic sponsors who understand the value of the community and step up to fund it.
The problem arises when the ultimate reward for success (qualifying for a Major) no longer pays out. When an organisation builds its multi-year business plan around recouping operational investments via sticker money, pulling that rug out fundamentally alters their operational runway (think about how much orgs need to spend to make a major via the T2 LAN circuit).
The immediate reaction to a shrinking revenue pool is a tightening of the belt, and this downward pressure is going to hit every corner of the ecosystem:
- Transfer Deals & Salaries: We are already seeing a freeze in the market. Tier 2 organisations can no longer afford to gamble on high-buyout transfer deals or premium salaries because the expected return on investment for qualifying for a Major has crashed.
- Behind-the-Scenes Casualties: The most tragic cuts won't be the players on the server, but the staff making the operations possible. When revenues dry up, organisations are forced to let go of player managers, Social Media Managers (SMMs), content creators, and back-office staff.
Unlike Tier 1 organisations that benefit from closed-circuit revenue sharing, massive global sponsorships, and diversified merchandise verticals, Tier 2 teams rely almost exclusively on sponsor goodwill and Major stickers.
Unless Valve acknowledges this crisis and makes significant adjustments before Singapore, the consequences will be devastating. We are looking at a future where Tier 2 orgs will no longer be able to sell players for sustainable buyouts, and skeleton crews will become the norm just to keep the lights on.
The stickers were what kept the Tier 2 dream alive. If the carrot shrinks any further, there won't be enough teams left to chase it.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Good reminder for any org not to touch @walczakiwlc for their own good. 26 year old matchfixer IGL with the mental of a 15 year old kid is bound to be a PR disaster.
Not the first, and certainly not the last incident involving this moron. Stay away at all costs.
