At the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, I laid a wreath honoring the victims of the horrific November 26, 2008 terrorist attacks, including six American citizens. We remember those lost, honor the courage of those who responded, and reaffirm the enduring U.S.-India partnership and our shared commitment to combating terrorism.

Please stop this Gurmeet. Do not position India as an "anti tech, anti progress, anti innovation in the world" trade. In any case, AI is not stopping whether the stocks related with AI do well or not. We have other things we can do- do not make it a single factor issue.
Now when AI trade is unwinding , India is still underperforming… After AI, we are blaming liquidity given by domestic investors. We will blame everything except excess taxes… Markets sooner or later will humble us more …

🧵THE MACRO BRIEF - 18th OCTOBER 2026 🛢️ Brent is back above $110. Fresh attacks near Hormuz landed on a market that was already short of diesel, and that combination is what is keeping prices up. Friday - Brent closed at $109.94, up 5.2% on the week and its highest close since May Sun-Fri - at least 10 ships were attacked near Hormuz, and Saudi Arabia stopped a missile aimed at its Red Sea export port $6.18 - the US diesel price per gallon, against $3.81 before the war, with stocks 12% below normal India spent $15.4 billion on crude in September, 31.6% more than in August. Until diesel stocks rebuild, Brent is likely to stay above $100. (1/5)

🤖Money left AI stocks this week as investors asked how the AI build out is actually financed, and it rotated straight into Indian IT. -14.5% - Korea's chipmakers this week, their worst since 2008, after a Chinese rival unveiled denser server memory chips -25% - CoreWeave, the AI borrower whose default insurance crossed 1,000 bps as credit spreads repriced AI risk +11.7% - Nifty IT this week, its best in about 18 months, led by HCLTech's raised forecast and TCS up 19% since its results Nifty rose 2.78% to 23,146.15, 4.4% above its October low, because India carries little AI hardware or AI debt. A close above 23,200 would show the bounce has broadened beyond IT. (4/5)

💵 The Rupee had its best week since April, up 1.9% to 94.95, after the RBI took over the Dollar buying for India's state oil companies. 94.95 - Friday's close, up every day this week, Monday's low of 95.96 still short of the 96.97 record $726 bn - FX reserves on 9 October, the cost of the RBI's outright Dollar sales, not 2013 style swaps YES, NO, YES - last week's three questions: the Dollar window held the Rupee, CPI stayed below 6%, Nifty held 22,180 The window steadies the Rupee, but every Dollar it supplies comes from reserves. Next week: does Brent hold above $110, does Nifty close above 23,200, and do foreign investors turn net buyers? Which matters most for your portfolio? #Nifty50 #MacroBrief (5/5)

Stocks are getting hammered as selling pressure continues on Liquid this weekend, now spreading across memory, storage and AI infrastructure. $WDC and $STX are leading the slide, while $MU and $SNDK are now down more than 3% versus Friday’s close. The pressure extends through the AI buildout: power supplier $BE, networking names $AAOI and $LITE, and cloud providers $CRWV and $IREN are all moving lower. Earlier pockets of strength are fading too. $NBIS has slipped into the red, and 85 of the 96 stocks and ETFs we tracked are now below Friday’s close. Markets keep moving.
