Breaking news: the Event Horizon Telescope team unveils strong magnetic fields spiraling at the edge of Milky Way’s central black hole, Sagittarius A*. This new image suggests that strong magnetic fields may be common to all black holes.

In the VLBI session, @ehtelescope highjacked an hour of the block! Kotaro Moriyama gave an excellent overview of EHT results, @froeloefs shared the latest EHT results studying magnetism at the edge of the event horizon of #M87BlackHole with circular polarization. #URSIGASS2023

So happy this paper is finally out! @Noemi_La_Bella did a great job investigating the impact of the AMT when we observe Sagittarius A* with the EHT. It turns out it helps a lot when observing with our European partners and ALMA
Making movies of black holes? Sure! Building a telescope like the @africa_mm_tel greatly helps.
Latest paper by my group: „Expanding Sgr A* dynamical imaging capabilities with an African extension to the Event Horizon Telescope“ @Noemi_La_Bella et al.

Exciting times, our new NatAstro paper is out of embargo revealing the first @ehtelescope view of the nearest radio galaxy Centaurus A! We see 'hollow' looking jets launched by a #BlackHole! Led by then PhD student Michael Janssen, it's both impressive and super weird. [1/5]

One ring to bind them all! Very excited to announce our new reveal of the connection between the iconic @ehtelescope image of the #BlackHole in M87 and the enormous jets it launches, captured in multiwavelength glory during our 2017 campaign.
Hats off to all observers and technical staff who are making this happen with limited physical access to the observatories! Very curious to see what we get this time...
We have a “go” for our first observing night of @ehtelescope since 2018. Weather is not optimal everywhere, but we will get some highly needed fresh data.😊
We have a new paper out showing how well we could measure black holes in the future! Just with more EHT observations, we could get several times better mass measurements. With space telescopes, we could get 0.5% precision and constrain black hole spin.

The right image above shows the distribution over black hole spin of the models that are acceptable after fitting to the simulated data from different arrays. When we observe with submillimeter telescopes in orbit around Earth (EHI), the black hole spin starts to be constrained.
