PRAGYAN OJHA: THE BOWLER WHO LOST HIS PLACE, BUT NEVER HIS PLACE IN CRICKET HISTORY. 🇮🇳 In November 2013, #PragyanOjha took 10 wickets in Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell Test against the West Indies at Wankhede. #SachinTendulkar ’s farewell dominated the headlines, but Ojha delivered a performance that should never be forgotten. He finished that Test with 10 wickets for 89 runs and the Player of the Match award. At just 27, he had already established himself as one of India's leading left-arm spinners. He had taken 113 wickets in 24 Tests and won the IPL Purple Cap in 2010. Then everything changed. In December 2014, the BCCI suspended him from bowling in competitive cricket because of an illegal bowling action. For any professional cricketer, losing the ability to do the one thing that built his career is a devastating setback. Ojha worked on his action, returned to competitive cricket after receiving clearance in February 2015, and hoped to reclaim his place in the Indian team. But cricket had moved on. The competition for places and the difficulty of returning after a long disruption meant Ojha never played another international match. He eventually retired from international and first-class cricket in 2020. Yet his story didn't end there. On October 19, 2026, the BCCI appointed Pragyan Ojha chairman of India's Men's Selection Committee, succeeding Ajit Agarkar. The man who once fought to get back into the Indian team now has a major responsibility in helping select the players who will represent the country. My Perspective:- This is the part of Ojha's journey that fascinates me most. He reached the top, experienced a setback that changed his career, and never got another international appearance. We will never know how many more wickets he might have taken if things had gone differently. But he now has another opportunity to contribute to Indian cricket not with the ball in his hand, but through the decisions that shape the team's future. Sometimes, a player's biggest contribution comes after his playing days are over. Do you think Pragyan Ojha deserved another chance to play for India after his bowling action was cleared, or had Indian cricket simply moved on?
