こんにちは 日本! 🎉 Japanese is now in Freemius Checkout, currently in beta. We’re validating the translations with makers before it’s available to everyone, and JPY support is coming soon. Want to try it now? Here’s what to do 🧵

Overlay checkout: Add language: 'ja' to checkout.open(). Hosted checkout: Add language=ja to the URL. Your Japanese buyers will see the checkout in Japanese, with no extra product code on your end. Full details: freemius.com/changelog/japan…

Changing a customer’s email shouldn’t require a support ticket. We’ve improved the email change flow in the Freemius Customer Portal so customers can handle it themselves, with verification steps to keep the account secure. Full changelog: freemius.com/changelog/impro…

Nathan Holmquist built ScanLister, an app that lists dozens of used books on Amazon at once. For years his billing system was a Google Sheet he had freelancers build. 🧵

Meanwhile his billing tool's fee grew from $24 to $600 a month as subscribers piled up. "I really need to find something else here."

He talked to three providers and picked Freemius. Now customers reset their own keys and invoices go out automatically. The migration wasn't smooth everywhere. He shares what was harder than expected: freemius.com/blog/scanlister…

Everything I build comes from a little island in the middle of the Irish Sea. We moved to the Isle of Man from South Africa in January 2020. COVID hit 2 months later. Going from South African heat to rain 80% of the time was a shock to the system. The real headache came when I built my first SaaS. When I set up payments for PageSpike, Stripe told me it didn't support the Isle of Man. My first thought was to just end the project there. @freemius saved it. Where are you building from, and what does your location make harder? (the photo is Douglas, on one of the dry days)

Using Stripe, PayPal, or another payment provider doesn't automatically mean PCI is off your plate. Your responsibilities depend on your checkout, where card data goes, and who legally sells the transaction. 🧵

Think your payment provider handles PCI compliance for you? Not necessarily. Your checkout setup, who legally sells the transaction, and where card data goes all affect what you’re responsible for. We’re breaking it down for software makers. Coming soon.

September release notes are live. 👇 The highlight: customers can now get an email when their WordPress license is activated on a site. 🎉 Plus Checkout, Developer Dashboard, and Customer Portal fixes. Small improvements, fewer “wait, where did my license go?” tickets. freemius.com/blog/freemius-r…

The first sale is always the one to remember. Especially when it comes with confetti (and @freemius). 🎉💜 xitter.cf/freemius/status/194618…
Nothing beats seeing makers get their first sale 💸 Do you remember how yours felt? Did you celebrate with a dance? scream “holy sh*t” with a big smile on your face? or take a screenshot so you’d never forget that moment? Share your story in the 🧵 and inspire future makers!

1000 signups ≠ 1000 paying customers. Neither does “I’d totally pay for this.” Watch what users do when they hit a limit. Do they leave, or try to find a way to keep using your AI app? That’s where payment intent shows up → freemius.com/blog/product-va…

“Unlimited” can get expensive fast with AI. One power user can consume 8–10x more compute than your median customer while paying the same price. That’s why AI pricing needs to account for usage, not just access → freemius.com/blog/ai-app-pri…

Built an AI app, integrated Paddle, then got rejected? Paddle explicitly prohibits AI image generators, deepfakes, and voice cloning. Check payment platform restrictions before you build around one. We compared the rules → freemius.com/blog/payment-pl…

Infinite scroll fix 🖱️ We identified a rare edge case where data tables (like subscriptions and payments) would stop loading new records mid-scroll. We’ve patched the logic to ensure a seamless, uninterrupted scrolling experience through your data.

Why this matters: Transactional emails are vital for customer communication, and data visibility is key for growth. These technical refinements remove friction, allowing you to focus on building great products while we handle the heavy lifting.
