Japan wants foreign talent—and then does everything possible to make foreigners leave. It’s not logical but it’s politically practical. And it’s stupid. But Japan Inc. never learns. 🧑🏻‍🔬 During COVID, Japan basically shut itself off from the non-Japanese world for two years, contributing to financial disasters and bankruptcies that companies are still dealing with. Now it has effectively passed new rules that close the country off again. In a country with some of the lowest wages in the G7, demanding that foreigners applying for permanent residency earn more than the typical Japanese worker seems unreasonable. Add stipulations such as decades of pension payments and requirements to pass a Japanese-language test at a very high proficiency level, and permanent residency becomes effectively out of reach for most people already here. So ask yourself: How many people are willing to spend 10 years of their lives living here for only a slim chance of getting permanent residency? Why learn the language? Why invest your money, time, and future in a country that makes it so difficult for you to stay? And this is happening in a country with a rapidly declining population, a rapidly growing elderly population, and a serious labor shortage. What happens when there aren’t enough foreigners willing to come here to work in nursing homes, care for the elderly, and fill the jobs that Japanese workers themselves aren’t filling? Eventually Japan will have to backtrack. But when it does, who will trust this government enough to come back and build a life here? Of course, Takaichi seems determined to imitate her manly hero, Donald Trump, who has already helped turn America into Trumpistan—a sham democracy and, in my view, an economic disaster. It’s a shame to watch Japan start down the same road and turn itself into Japanistan. It’s ass-backwards Galápagos thinking. But there we are. Read more here: 👇 tokyopaladin.substack.com/p/…

I’m still waiting on everyone to call for the @PGATOUR to separate themselves from Tiger Woods too. I mean all he did was cheat on his wife, drives under under the influence multiple times and endanger the lives of everyone in his community. Yeah but let’s be outraged instead about an Ad video. All this fake outrage makes me sick. #GoodGood #FakeOutrage

Is the PGA Tour Evil? The PGA Tour doesn’t protect golf. It protects a monopoly. Color outside their lines and they try to ruin you. Greg Norman wanted a world tour decades ago. They froze him out, then treated him like a cartoon villain the second he ran LIV. Phil Mickelson was a Tour cash machine until he left. Then he wasn’t an icon anymore. He was a traitor. LIV players took another job. That’s it. Now the price of walking back in isn’t qualifying on Monday. It’s a “charitable” shakedown — Koepka had to drop $5 million and give up years of equity — plus fines on the European side in the millions. Independent contractors, until they work for someone else. Then it’s a noncompete with better branding. Wesley Bryan played a nine-hole YouTube scramble with LIV guys after they warned him. Indefinite suspension. Not for tanking events. For touching the wrong microphone. Good Good built an audience the Tour doesn’t own. The Tour was happy to take their title-sponsor check until a dumb driver ad — the kind sports commercials have run for 20 years, and Callaway signed off on before it aired — needed a villain. Partners fled. Merch vanished. Values showed up right after the screenshots. Tiger Woods did more damage to the “family values” brochure than that entire list combined. He stayed inside the tent. So he’s still the face. This isn’t about taste, Saudi money, or a tacky commercial. It’s about control. Play their schedule, sell their story, take their permission. Do anything else and they don’t argue with you. They try to erase you.

Japan just told the foreigners who built lives here, who learned the language, paid the taxes, raised the kids, buried the years — you were too slow. No permanent residency. Not because you didn’t earn it, but because it’s easier to blame 3% of the population than to answer for thirty years of decline. It’s a good short-term play. Scapegoats always poll better than self-examination. But the rot was never the foreigners — it was three decades of the LDP running the country like a family business, cronies first, everyone else an afterthought. One day the math will catch up. People will look around and ask how it all fell apart. But by then the answer will be sitting in Singapore, or Berlin, or back home — because the smart ones don’t wait around to be blamed for a mess they didn’t make. They just leave. Quietly. And they don’t come back.

WTF?
If you wanted to discover why The Sun has collapsed both journalistically and financially you need to look no further than when they were exclusively told ( prior to the election) about Zac Polanski’s mum being an escort thereby explaining his Green Party policy of legalising prostitution. His mother lives in Manchester and for decades her wider family has known she’s been offering her services as Ava Aroma At first it wasn’t vice, but dressing transvestites with outfits, wigs and make up. Then she became a dominatrix, later doing escort work and appearing on Only Fans. The Full English. Quite reasonable for the media to know what would motivate Mr Polanski towards a political first in the UK of making the sex trade legal. Personally I support it, as under the present laws all that is being achieved is making a number of violent Albanian gangsters very wealthy. Anyway, The Sun was offered this interesting tale but the message came back that executives viewed it as “ political assassination” and wouldn’t touch it. Have they gone quite mad. Had his mum owned a bank and Polanski wanted to relax banking taxes or rules that should be revealed. Same with sex. Murdoch has told his people that he doesn’t mind funding a loss-making Sun as long as it doesn’t cause him a problem. The whole point of journalism is to reveal uncomfortable truths. Murdoch should do his bottom line, and the dwindling number of online and print readers a favour and flog The Sun while it has a value.

What I like about Diwali, Vaisakhi, Chanukah and Easter celebrations is that there is very little talk of beheading
Too many are too polite to say this …but give your head a wobble Nick! London rightly hosts Diwali, Vaisakhi, Chanukah and in a few weeks Easter celebrations But this nonsense of singling out Muslims at an Iftaar open to all Londoners as exceptional is just bigotry. Faith leaders must call out this nonsense from politicians who seem committed to causing hate and division.

BREAKING: Morocco have been crowned Africa Cup of Nations winners after a major ruling today overturned Senegal’s victory in the final 🚨

Maybe we could have a play-off system where all 24 teams play each other home and away, with the top three teams getting promoted.
BREAKING: The EFL Championship play offs will be changed from four to six teams from the start of next season 🚨

A video questions Prime Minister Takaichi's claims that she didn't know about the Unification Church's ties to LDP politicians. It notes that Takaichi's name appears 32 times in internal church documents recently seized by Korean authorities.
Analysis of Japanese language posts found that "Unification Church" was the most common election-related issue being tweeted about. However, polls seem to indicate that politicians implicated in the Unification Church scandal are not struggling.

Utter chaos at end of African Cup. Ref chalks off good goal for Senegal and then West Ham player gives away a penalty for Morocco. Senegal go nuts, manager goes nuts, players walk off. Disgrace. #WHUFC
