Voting for @fredserval 's @gmtgames beautiful A Gest of Robin Hood at the link for the 2024 Charles S. Roberts Awards for Excellence in Conflict Simulation Games. A game I guarantee Eric Hobsbawm would have loved (or maybe not, he was difficult. )

Oh yes @fredserval!
You may have heard of trick taking games.
They've been popular for hundreds of years but have recently seen a resurgence in the board gaming hobby. It's a mechanic that is surprisingly versatile.
One of our upcoming games is "A Very Civil Whist" - @fredserval's take on the English Civil War using some ideas from 18th century trick taking games.
It plays fast and crams a huge amount of decision making into a neat package.

Here's a thread of covers from different parts of the world🧵
With the help of @AlexFRousseau I finally did my self-review of Red Flag Over Paris. A cool exercise that I will do again for Gest in a few years. Poke @gmtgames & @Domhnallh youtu.be/ESlo7R2v9sE
