I worry that people are having increasingly more issues recognizing what's real and what's not.
If you worked in auto for a long time, you get good at it because automakers always unveil concepts and prototypes that never make it to production.
In fact, I remember when Elon used to be old Elon and rage against automakers for doing that, and pledge that Tesla wouldn't. Of course, that was before his Twitter addiction melted his brain.
Wait, Tesla doing a kickflip with an engineering prototype Roadster equipped with cold-air thrusters, which will never make it to production, counts as one of "the most amazing feats of the nation."
If he does it, good for him, but I doubt it. It wouldn't be the first time he backed out of a charitable offering. Did he fix Flint's water problem as promised? Remind me?
But I think this is what's going to happen: GOP loses the House and Senate, and Musk gets investigated for hundreds of shady things he has done recently. And he doesn't go through with the offering and blames the democrats for it.
X is directly looking at what X Money users buy and will use the data to serve you "personalized ads" on X.
Everything Yann said here is roughly correct, and Musk knows it, which is why he responded like a 14-year-old.
Calling @MKBHD’s video “hate” is misguided and highlights the nearly insurmountable issue the Tesla community has with criticism.
There was plenty to criticize about that unveiling and I thought Marques did an incredible job.
He is becoming a great force pushing against the growing movement in tech and now automotive of over promising and under delivering.

At this point, I have no respect for Elon Musk. But I would have respected him if he had framed those stunts for what they are: incredible engineering feats that show what this technology can do when pushed to its limits, but they have little to do with what customers will get.
Elon didn't do that because he knows his audience. He knows his cult would repeat his misleading framing of "Tesla unveils a flying car."
This car can't "fly". It can jump and then hover for about 2 seconds before it needs to come down. Even then, there's doubt about what an actual production version would look like, as it appears Tesla used a stripped-down version with a smaller battery pack for the stunt.
Obviously, there's the safety/crash test issue for both the Thrust and Rocket versions with giant air tanks and them.
Furthermore, Thursday wasn't just "unveiling a new version of the Roadster". It was unveiling a whole new vehicle program and killing the original next-gen Roadster, which people paid in full for and were promised for 6 years.
It might just be me, but I feel like this kind of honest, realistic commentary is much more useful than the thousands of Tesla cults posting, "Omg Elon did it, he unveiled a flying car."
Did he?
Wait, the Canadian army was stocking munitions and executing firing exercises right amid producing natural gas wells?
A catastrophic blast at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta has reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries during a live fire military training operation.
According to local sources on base, Canadian Forces personnel had been conducting exercises over several days when an artillery projectile reportedly struck an active natural gas well on the bombing range, triggering a massive detonation.
The blast is said to have levelled nearby tactical training buildings, with subsequent fires reaching munitions storage and setting off secondary detonations across the range.
The geography and infrastructure;
➟ CFB Wainwright has a documented history of natural gas production, with approximately 180 wells reported on the military property in 2014.
➟ Military range maps identify munitions storage, pipelines and designated live fire danger areas near Peterson Pond.
➟ NASA FIRMS satellite imagery recorded multiple thermal hotspots between Peterson Pond and Jamieson Lake on October 17.
Local accounts also describe hospitals activating Code Orange protocols, mobilizing stretchers and preparing for a significant influx of casualties.
The reported gas well strike, secondary detonations and hospital emergency measures remain unconfirmed as authorities investigate the incident.
Should these reports be confirmed, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and affected.

The lack of communication to original $250k roadster reservation holders and referral winners, who literally generated millions of dollars for @Tesla, is pretty shocking and disappointing. Kinda blows my mind.

At this point, there's simply no difference between Trump and Musk. Might as well be the same person.
EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.
I can't emphasize this enough. Sure, the driver is responsible, and I hope he faces the consequences, but Tesla shares some of the blame.
FSD gets more dangerous as it improves because of complacency. Type 'Tesla Full Self-Driving' on X or Insta and you'll see hundreds, if not thousands, of Tesla owners acting as if this car drives itself. I wonder why? Maybe the name? Maybe Elon Musk falsely claiming that you can text and drive now?
Sure, FSD is truly impressive and works roughly 98-99% of the time, but as anyone who understands autonomy, 99% is nowhere near good enough. It needs to be 99.99999%.
You need to be attentive and ready to take control for that last 1%. That gets exponentially harder as the percentage drops.
When it worked great 80% of the time, you were highly motivated to stay attentive for that remaining 20%.
As it gets better and requires fewer disengagements, you get more complacent, and the dumber you are- and oh boy, there are dumb people out there- the more likely you are to start believing that you don't need to pay attention because it feels like you don't have to 99% of the time.
Tesla is doing a terrible job of addressing this issue.
Tesla driver says he was asleep on FSD when he hit CHP car, 2 officers hurt electrek.co/2026/10/16/tesla… by @fredlambert
And I do understand the argument that sometimes it saves people, but I don't think it's a valid one.
Because you don't really know whether, if you weren't using FSD and were engaged in the driving, you might have been able to avoid an accident.
The only valid point is if you are having some kind of medical emergency and the car drives you to safety. That makes sense to me.
But anything else is just speculation, and the fact that the feature exists and is available creates new accidents through complacency. We know this for a fact now. Drivers have admitted it in court, and a jury even found Tesla liable for it.
People are acting like I'm a party pooper here, and that's OK. I've just been around Tesla for a long time. I know what I'm looking at.
Again, the stunts are awesome. Truly cool and hard to pull off, but Tesla owes me and many others Roadsters for a decade. Paid in full.
Now we get a cool demo they are using to justify pushing deliveries back another 2 years. And we have heard that before. So 2 years is just another maybe.
The whole event gave me vibes of Tesla Solar Roof unveiling. That was right before Tesla and SolarCity merged and was used to justify the merger.
This looks like the same thing, but for SpaceX, ahead of a proposed merger that I expect will be announced soon.
And we all know what happened to the Tesla Solar Roof.
My thoughts on the new Tesla Roadster are mixed.
The stunts were truly impressive and congrats to those who made it happen.
However, I don't think I'd want that in a car. It will never be road legal, probably nullifying your warranty. And based on the configuration, you are losing too much with just one seat.
The 'Thrust' package is probably the best option, but I'm still mad we didn't just get the 2017 Roadster.
I feel like the design got worse: we lost half the range, 2 seats, and gained 0.9-sec 0-60 and some downforce. It's cool, but it's nothing like what it was supposed to be. I guess that's Tesla in 2026, ahead of Elon pushing for a merger with SpaceX.

From Elon's opening statements, it's quite clear that this is an attempt to further link Tesla and SpaceX ahead of a merger.
This is the Tesla/SolarCity solar tile unveiling over again.
You don't say?
