My last read of the year, book #83, was a page-turner to say the least! I love this series and this may be one of Penny’s best. #agoodreadingyear
Another excellent event @VanWritersFest Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov was so interesting to listen to.
Another great event @VanWritersFest with Ann Cleeves this evening! (And always happy to see the lanterns 😍)
“Finding Joy Amid Turmoil” with inspiring writers, and gracious host @elamin88 was a perfect opener to the week @VanWritersFest
My reading prep for our upcoming trip to Greece continues. This one is *so* Atwood: The story of Penelope as only she could tell it.
Sept non-fiction reading goal choice: pub’d in 2009, this is a lovely dual memoir by mother and daughter, traveling together and each on a personal quest. Made me want to re-visit The Secret Life of Bees, too.
Reading goal, Sept. choice: pub’d 2005, prob bought in 2006 when we lived in Florida, on my shelf ever since. Finalist for Orange Prize, I sometimes loved it, sometimes liked it, sometimes was puzzled by it, happy I finally read it 😅 There’s a movie, maybe I’ll watch it.
Long listed for the Booker, I was hand sold this book at my local independent bookstore @book_warehouse and am SO thankful for the recommendation; it blew me away with an historical plot point I didn’t even know about. Superbly plotted, intense, excellent.
I loved this one. I don’t know (remember) much of Greek mythology; Miller brings it all to such glorious life.
Reading goal, August, pub’d 1999, on my shelf ?? It grew on me; a story of women’s friendship, and grief, primarily, but so much more. Ironically, it seems I am also a “book borrower” as when I opened the cover I found @Margaretb_yvr name inside. Returning after ?? years!

Non-fiction reading goal, August selection. Published 1988, nominated for a Governor General’s award, tells the story of west B.C. coast one-man salmon-troller fisherman John Daly in the 1970’s. Very detailed and interesting.
Loving Jim Byrnes @harmonyartswv - as always- but sure wish we could hear his talk between numbers - sound people, please, this was also an issue two years ago.
