Supreme Court Review: Chiles v. Salazar
A succinct, nonpartisan, balls-and-strikes overview of the first blockbuster case of the Supreme Court's October term (a thread 🧵...)

How did American politics get so dumb?
Easy: Government Schools.
We can track one-for-one the decline of American political discourse and the rise of public education.
Take people who can't name a state or don't know what the Supreme Court is, wash them with decades of left-wing propaganda, stick them in a voter booth, and here we are.

My Fellow Americans:
Last night at the Democrat National Convention, Barack Obama oozed out of his Martha’s Vineyard lair to repeat the lying demagoguery that typified his every moment on the American scene as a Marxist revolutionary. To wit, he said:
“The other side knows it’s easier to play on people’s fears and cynicisms. They will tell you that government is inherently corrupt.”
Now let me stop for just a moment and state a point of fact. Every government that has ever existed has been inherently corrupt. Every government that exists right now is inherently corrupt. Every government that will ever exist in the future will be inherently corrupt. What I just said is true because immutable human nature dictates that the people who work in government will always and inevitably place their own self-interest ahead of the citizens they ostensibly claim to “serve.”
If you doubt the truth of what I just said, I defy you to name a government in human history that was NOT corrupt. You cannot.
Thus, the best government is one that seeks to minimize inherent and unavoidable corruption while at the same time providing basic necessary services such as justice and defense. The best government is a LIMITED government, one where the government’s powers are carefully circumscribed and the powers that the government is not specifically granted belong instead to the People, and not the bureaucrats. I describe, of course, the American way of government—a 235-year experiment in freedom that smooth-talking Marxist monsters like Barack Obama have sought to destroy for the past 100 years.
Obama’s speech last night was the seemingly compelling story of every totalitarian since Karl Marx first slithered out of his mother’s unholy womb. “Give us your freedoms, give us your wealth, put your trust in us and we will build a shining city on a hill.” This siren song is how Lenin came to power. And Mussolini. And Hitler. And Stalin. And Mao. And Pol Pot. And Kim il Sung. And Hugo Chavez. And the tyrants currently transforming the UK into a fascist hellscape. Every genocidal maniac in the past 120 years assured his followers that THIS TIME the government would be for the people, that a message of “Hope” and “Change” would FINALLY work and create a world of equity and joy. That promise that suckered so many well-meaning victims always ended the same—in poverty, in oppression, in work camps, in famine, in genocide. The pattern has never not ended this way.
Obama is an inherently evil man. He preys on the basic good nature of Americans seeking a better day, and vilifies those who support limited government as being “cynical” or lacking “hope.” These are gossamer lies designed to obscure the reality that the Democrats—Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and the rest of their oily cartel of dishonesty and graft—actually seek to enslave and control you for their own benefit. While you sit and suffer, while your rights are violated, while you cannot afford a home or groceries or a decent education, while your cities burn and your children are injected with hormones without your knowledge or consent, the America Politburo that is the Democrat Party sits and laughs at you from the privileged drawing rooms of their dachas high atop a hill in Palo Alto, or Potomac Maryland or, yes, Martha’s Vineyard.
Now, today, standing athwart their totalitarian aims is one man. One audacious, relentless, bold man who stands outside the system of tyranny they have created. The only man with the skill, the bravery and the determination to dismantle their mechanisms of false hope and elusive promise that seek to enslave us all. That man is Donald J. Trump. He is such a threat to them and their nefarious goals that the have tried both to kill him and to imprison him. But he will not be silent. He will not stop. He stands for you and me at great personal risk, because—like Batman—he is not the hero we need, but he is the hero we deserve. The greatest threat America faces is the uncontrolled, unconstitutional, unelected, unaccountable federal bureaucracy that controls our lives from the taxes it plunders, to the wars it sends your children to fight, down to the light bulbs and gas stoves it decides we may or may not possess. This Deep State Leviathan must be defeated, and Donald Trump is the only man who can do so.
Disregard the lies of Barack Obama. Send Kamala Harris and Tim Walz back to whatever rock they crawled out from under. Vote Trump/Vance—for yourself, for your children, for your grandchildren, for your neighbors… for all that is righteous and free and hopeful in the American dream.
Thank you for listening. God bless America.

Just had to go through ‘facial recognition boarding’ at LAX airport, meaning they scan your face and use your biometric data to identify you instead of checking your passport/boarding pass.
I tried to refuse, but was immediately told by the gate agent that it was obligatory and that they wouldn’t allow me to board the plane if I didn’t comply.
Yet another dystopian nightmare that has become reality.
