Go @dan_aykroyd There is nothing wrong with staying friends with Americans from all sides of the political spectrum. Call out for justice, and remain truthful.
Patriotic @Ghostbusters legend @dan_aykroyd doing his part to try to get @MarkJCarney and @realDonaldTrump together on his farm to sort out tariff war before it’s too late for @crystal_head and many other biz on both sides of border of 2 great countries — torontosun.com/news/national…

A real Canadian, who has had more international success over the years than our pop heroes. Glenn Gould will still be attracting new listeners after many of us are long gone. This is why:
A magnificent performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Variation 3, by Glenn Gould. 🎹✨

On Glenn Gould’s 94th birthday, I’m reflecting on what I learned from Stephen Posen, Gould’s lawyer and estate executor, and Ray Roberts, his friend and assistant. Their care for Gould’s legacy deserves recognition. #GlennGouldDay

Great day at Hamilton Art Gallery yesterday. (Norval Morrisseau, 1980) Thank you to those who believe and support local culture. I love Hamilton!

Twenty-five years ago, my son watched the second tower being hit from his classroom window . I watched on the news as I prepared for work. What I remember most is what came next: the compassion and courage of ordinary people helping one another, flags everywhere, and “America the Beautiful.” In Brooklyn, we stood with our Muslim neighbours and shopkeepers when others tried to harass them. The worst of times brought out the best in people. That is why this proud Canadian can never give up on the American people. 🇺🇸 Never forget.

Nicely said. I believe that Canada is moving in the right direction under @MarkJCarney in terms of AI and data centers. The model of caring for citizens, while forging ahead, is making the American leader mad.

Glenn Gould, on Canada: “I think there are tremendous virtues within the [U.S.] and I personally am more at home with the somewhat reserved quieter Canadian spirit than with the more energetic American spirit, and being Canadian I therefore understand the wish to preserve it.”

Gould’s “Canadian spirit” reached the world through Columbia Records and American-style marketing and distribution—reach the CBC could not match. Has that changed for Canadian artists? Sculpture by Ruth Abernethy, outside the CBC in Toronto.

Bad move
Ontario is restoring vehicle lanes on Toronto’s busiest streets to fight gridlock and get people and goods moving again.   Our government has issued a request for proposals for lane restoration across Toronto, while immediately beginning work on Bloor Street West.

Not supposed to like @GiorgiaMeloni because she sits center right, but I remain impressed by her. She deals in reality, and not false idealistic dreams.

What a great moment - Competitors, but coming together to show respect for an 'elder' who has given his life to music.
Good morning. A great group of wonderful pianists L-R Gary Graffman Lang Lang, Yuja Wang (who both studied with Graffman) and Emanuel Ax. Photo from a birthday party for Graffman at his apartment in New York. #music #pianists

We have to drive and park, so that we can hike the @BruceTrail_BTC Seems crazy because we have to build more parking lots!
Why do I hate car dependency? I am currently getting ready to DRIVE to go for a walk in the park.

Glenn Gould turned me back onto Richard Strauss.... So happy birthday!
Richard Strauss b otd 1864 - such a master! "Anyone who wants to be a real musician must be able to set a menu to music." But also: "Melody as revealed in the greatest works of our classics is one of the most noble gifts which an invisible deity has bestowed on mankind."

Great piece on AI. I am 'on AI' every day, and it has become predictable, boring, and provides wrong information. I'll still use it as a tool -- but will not rely on it for my final output.
You have noticed it. ChatGPT feels dumber than it used to. Your prompts that worked six months ago produce worse results now. The writing sounds flatter. The ideas sound safer. The internet itself feels like it is shrinking. Every article reads the same. Every email sounds the same. Every answer sounds like it was written by the same voice. You thought it was you. It is not you. Researchers at Oxford and Cambridge published a paper in Nature proving what is happening. They call it Model Collapse. Here is the mechanism in one sentence. AI trained on AI-generated data gets dumber every generation until it forgets what real human data looked like. The internet is filling with AI-generated content. Blog posts. Articles. Reviews. Comments. Social media. AI companies scrape the internet to train the next generation of models. Which means the next generation of AI is being trained on the output of the current generation. Each cycle loses information. Not randomly. It loses the rarest, most unusual, most creative parts first. The researchers call these the "tails of the distribution." The weird ideas. The unexpected perspectives. The things that made the internet feel human. Those disappear first. What remains is the average. The safe. The expected. The bland. Then the next generation trains on that. And loses more. And the next generation trains on that. And loses more. The researchers proved this is not a slow decline. Major degradation happens within just a few iterations. Even when some of the original human data is preserved. They tested it on large language models. On image generators. On statistical models. The pattern was the same every time. The output converges toward a narrow, flattened version of reality that looks nothing like the original data. The lead researcher put it plainly. "Large language models are like fire. A useful tool. But one that pollutes the environment." The pollution is invisible. You cannot see which sentence on the internet was written by a human and which was written by AI. Neither can the AI that is about to train on it. And once the tails are gone, they do not come back. The damage is irreversible. This is not a prediction anymore. It is a diagnosis. The internet you grew up on was built by humans writing things no algorithm would have written. Strange, personal, imperfect, alive. That internet is being diluted. One generation of AI at a time. And the models trained on what remains are learning a smaller and smaller version of the world. Model Collapse is not a technical problem. It is a cultural one. The thing that made the internet worth reading is the thing that disappears first.

Happy World Bicycle Day. My bike continues to bring me joy. I hope that more ppl find the beauty in riding safely, with respect for 'the other'. Too many cities, like St.Catharines, ON have been destroyed by cars.
On this World Bicycle Day, we celebrate more than a sport. A cycling is a lifestyle, one that promotes health, sustainability, and connection. From grassroots cycling and the iconic @tour_du_Rwanda to the historic UCI Road World Championships 2025, every pedal stroke tells a story of growth, passion, and ambition. 🚴‍♂️ Happy World Bicycle Day! #WorldBicycleDay #RwandaSports

I wish that ppl in #Niagara would take notice. #StCatharines has potential, but remains unsafe for cyclists.
67% of these journeys are statistically under 5km. If those who could cycle, walk, or take public transport did so, the roads would be much clearer!
