Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development (SFPD) and the Centre for Health Economics and Development (CHECOD), in collaboration with the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KBSPHDA), convened a one-day State-Level Training of Trainers (SToT) on Community Mobilization at Azbir Hotel, Birnin Kebbi, on Monday, 28th September, 2026.
The training was held under the Kebbi – Tracking for Accountability and Equitable Immunization Project (K-TRACE), supported by @ Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. The project aims to reduce the number of zero-dose and underimmunized children across seven priority Local Government Areas: Argungu, Birnin Kebbi, Maiyama, Koko-Besse, Yauri, Zuru, and Danko Wasagu.
The SToT equipped participants with the skills to train and support 275 Community Mobilizers across the 7 priority LGAs. Sessions covered the K-TRACE community mobilization strategy, household engagement, zero-dose child identification and referral, and the use of immunization referral cards. Participants also had hands-on practice with the Zero-Dose Tracking Tool (SurveyCTO), including role-plays on house-to-house identification and referral. A DHIS2 syndicate session was held for LGA M&E Officers.
The training brought together representatives of SFPD, CHECOD, KBSPHDA, and RI supporting partners, including WHO, Gates Foundation, CDC, NI-ABAI, and ACE Group, alongside LGA Consultants, LIOs, LGA M&E Officers, Health Educators, and CBO representatives from the seven implementing LGAs.
The session provided a platform for shared learning, practical skills-building, and joint planning. Participating LGAs also confirmed their readiness for step-down training and the deployment of Community Mobilizers, a key step toward closing immunization gaps in Kebbi State.
