My heart breaks💔The staff member who gave George a ride back to the pits yesterday was interviewed about what happened. He said that when he went over to George, he told him, “It’s okay, bro. You can do better next time.” George just kept his head down. Even after he got on the bike, he was still sitting there with his head hanging, so the staff member thought he should take the long way back, give George a bit more time to calm down and cool off, and ride slowly back to the rear of the pits. When asked whether George had held onto his waist, he said no. He said George just looked completely drained, like he was trying to hold himself together and hold back tears, and didn’t even seem to know what to do with his hands. Huge respect to this staff member. The kindness of a complete stranger showed George more care than some people in his own team did.
