Merry Christmas Everyone! It's been a busy year as ever, our fantastic team have worked hard caring for our cows and they have produced around 5.5 million litres of milk and reared 675 calves! Our farm supplies enough milk for almost 80,000 people! Thanks to our staff and village
End of First Cycle of Serving
Total served = 710/808 = 87%
Cows @ 40d VWP = 455/503 = 90%
Heifers = 190/192 = 99%
I would always like to see cows as high as possible but 90% is my minimum acceptable level for "good" so overall I'm pretty chuffed. #kpis #benchmarking #teamdairy
End of week two of serving
Cows served = 375/615 = 61%
Heifers served = 139/192 = 72%
Cows submission = 375 Vs 406 target = 92%
Heifer submission = 139 Vs 127 target = 109%
Using nil VWP for cows to keep calculations simple
End of day 5 of serving
Total served = 173
Eligible to serve = 806 (Nil VWP)
Percent served = 21%
Percent days = 24%
Submission = 90.5%

It has been 400 days of merciless bloodshed in Gaza since Oct. 7.
According to the United Nations and Reuters — The age group with the most deaths is 5-9 year olds. Let that sink in.
Next is 10-14 year olds.
Next is 0-4 year olds.
44% of the deaths so far are children.
It is sick.
The US sent the money, and the weapons. Biden, Harris, and the DNC have blood on their hands.
It must stop now.
Starting to digest the reality of the news that Agricultural Property Relief is going, succession planning will be even more important going forward, and for those who are in a position where they are not ready to pass on assets (i.e. if kids are too young) then a good...
I wonder how much this talk of APR change has triggered succession discussions in farming families? Lots of very busy accountants and lawyers!
Second calved Albion cow affectionately nicknamed Mouse by the team, she's producing about 35 litres a day #BlueAlbion
End of week 8 of calving
Calved = 582
Left to calve = 79
Calves on milk = 376
Cows are still grazing by day for another week or so, starting to look ahead to breeding season again now

Six weeks into the calving block and we've calved 518, almost 80% of total block. Pretty much on par with last year. Would be nice to tighten a bit further to hit the 85% mark, always good to have a challenge!

The unimaginable scale of death, the trauma, the loss of hope.

Day 38 since planned start of calving
Cows calved = 502
Due to calve = 159
Progress = 75.9%
Weather hasn't been ideal the last few days, how are other autumn calvers finding it?

The latest Albion heifer to arrive, lovely blue markings. This one's a Speckles Isaiah daughter from a Wunderino fleckvieh cow. #AlbionCattle #BlueAlbion @RBSTrarebreeds
