The magnesium LOE was rated as high; but really 66% of patients came from a single study and most patients received digoxin (rather than CCB or BB). it may be an adjunct to use in difficult-to-control rates, but alone not a magic bullet with limited evidence

The MINT trial nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NE… randomized patients w/MI (mostly NSTEMI) & anemia to transfusion if <7-8 g/dl vs transfusion to maintain hb of 10 g/dl. the 95% CI for point estimates for primary outcome (death/MI) crossed 1.0. So, is it a negative trial? (2/)

It is complicated. all of the estimates favor the liberal strategy. there were slightly ⬆️ adverse events (e.g. TACO) in the liberal group, but didn't increase death. for me (@LWestafer), this may ⬇️ my tranfusion threshold in some patients w/NSTEMI, ischemic sx, & anemia(3/)
