The inside of Common Limpet (Patella vulgata) shells often have an iridescence that is hard to capture on camera - but because this shell has been worn down a bit it's shining through much more strongly 😍 County Clare, Ireland.

Portrait of a jumping bristletail, Archaeognatha. I find the eyes and the great hairstyle very exciting here. 🧑The hair looks like the wing scales of butterflies.

Forget-me-not fun fact: the yellow ring at the flower’s centre fades to white after pollination, signalling to insects there’s no more nectar. The insects therefore learn to visit the flowers that haven’t yet been pollinated, ensuring no forget-me-not flower is forgotten 🤙

Thrilling find off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida. Possibly a larval Caulophryne species of deep water Anglerfish, the adults of which are just crazy looking.

I struck #GOLD in #Panama! Yep that's right a gold iridescent Carpenter #ant - We always go ''ahhhh'' ''wouuuaaahhh'' when we see green irridescent #insects but what about gold iridescence, how amazing is this ant really?

A Saddle Oyster (Anomia ephippium) shell. The shine is caused by light reflecting off the Nacre on the inside of the shell. Oysters and some other shellfish produce this iridescent coating on the inside of their shells as they grow - the same substance that pearls are made of.
