On Sept. 27, 1956, the Dash-80 (the prototype of the Boeing 707) became the first jet to land at SEA. To accommodate the upcoming jet revolution, we lengthened the runway by 1,000 feet in 1954 to welcome it. Check out these pics of some later 707's from Western Airlines.
SEA welcomed an adorable “puppy brigade” from Guide Dogs for the Blind for a special familiarization tour. The visit helped these future guide dogs experience the sights, sounds, crowds, and routines of a busy airport.

Today, we honor and remember the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001, and the countless individuals whose lives were changed in the months and years that followed.
You're invited to walk the 9/11 Memorial Stairs at the south end of the parking garage. Built by POSFD, this memorial serves as a tribute to those who perished and an inspiration to all who continue to dedicate their lives to public service and safety. portseattle.org/blog/heroes-…
